While the whole ring-caste system of the city is kind of creepy and that, in its own way, it does carry a degree of symbolism. Think of the walls separating the different classes of people. The Earth itself is made up of various layers called strata, all containing different types of rock with distinctive traits according to their location and age. Heh, looks like that interest I took in geology a few years ago paid off.

She didn't have an invatation, and obviously the gaurds have been told to let NO ONE in if they don't have an invitation. It shows the same sort of fear that all totalitarian rulers have about their subjects. Rulers will only let the ones that can be controled or trusted close to them. No one else could get close.

I don't see why he would want the throne, he already has complete controle of the city. Unless it is just for his own personal ambition, which is possible.

Well he would probably like to be an offical leader.....but it's possible he has his agenda for it.

I'd imagine he'd want the king around as a scape-goat should the Fire Nation finally successfully invade.

After all, they'd be looking for the King, not a cultural minister.

But since Long Feng runs the city well unoffically they won't search for him but Long Feng may just lose control.
