NO the avatar cycle is NOT broken. Katara healed him in the end. Plus, if Aang died, it would end the show, and there is a third season.

Aang didn't die, he was only seriously injured, and Katara healed him.

He did die, the cycle was broken

but because he was brought back the cycle begins again. The Avatar State won't be as powerful, that was the point of him dieing, imagine how easy it would be for Aang to go to the fire nation glow it up and make it an easy fight. He may also struggle with Water, Earth and Fire a bit now that he is the lone Avatar instead of a whole line of Avatars to help him in spirit, somewhat of a longer shot, just a thought I had. Roku won't be able to help him anymore, at least not until Aang finds a way to relink the Avatar Cycles. He will go through emotional pains, dealing with his own mortality (like people do who have near death experiences, or in Aang's case a death experience) but he will be better for it. At least, that is what I see coming from this...

OK, even with the huge cliffhanger, I think I can hazard a guess at what happened.

    Imagine,
if you will, the Avatar as being a normal person with two spirits
inhabiting their body: Their own, and the Avatar Spirit.?? Roku was very
specific (kinda) when he told Aang about the Avatar State.

"If you are killed in the Avatar State, the reincarnation cycle will be broken, and the Avatar will cease to exist."

    When
Aang died, both spirits were killed.?? Using the special water, Katara
managed to bring back AANG's spirit; most likely, the AS is dead.

Which would eliminate the Avatar State.?? Also, when aang dies, the avatar will not be reincarnated, and will cease to exist.

Also, about the tattoos, since Airbender Tattoos are very spiritual, it's possible that the water from the oasis trigger something in the tattoos.

Yes indeed, this sounds like a good direction to go with this. In fact, I doubt Aang is the first avatar to die in avatar state, so the reincarnation cycle thingy can be restarted.

I think the Avatar cycle is NOT broken because, remember Aang's arrow glowed again after Katara brought him back to life. If any of you people reading this need a recap, I suggest watching Book 2: Earth Chapter 1: The Avatar State, and then watching Book 2: Earth: Chapters 19-20: The Guru-The Crossroads of Destiny . I don't feel like explaining the Avatar State.

When Aang died or almost died, whatever, I thought once he fell and Katara started to bring all of that water around her like Aang did with the air when he went into the Avatar State, that Katara somehow got the avatar state, but no, it was just lots and lots of rage that made her get that gigantic wave and save Aang.

Thats a good idea. Here's my theories:

    1) Aang Died and Brought Back to Life: If that happened, then everything could be back to normal with the Avatar Cycle. Or, Aang is the final last Avatar or is now the new first one. Finally, he may not be the Avatar now and was brought back to life, so now he can only airbend.

    2) Aang Did Not Die: Everything is normal with the Avatar Cycle.

Aang didn't die because the oasis water cant bring someone back to life. This is because the moon spirit was killed in the oasis water and it did nit come back to life. It took yue to bring it to life.

    Very observant.

IF Aang did die and he must restart the cycle, then it would be another Star Wars motif... Luke Skywalker starts a new breed of Jedi by being the last surviving one, but then teaches his nieces and nephews the ways of the force, and eventually his son (which the Jedi in the old order were forbidden from having children).

Yeah, but did someone try to waterbend the water into the Moon Spirit? I don't remember someone doing that. If someone id do that, then the Moon Spirit could have survived w/ out Yue sacraficing her life to it.

Well if the cycle is broken and there are no more Avatars then I guess it could prove my point that the Avatar world is our world, just everyone lost the knowledge of how to bend, or since the cycle was broken once Aang dies the next generation of people are unable to bend because they where somehow tied to the Avatar.
