    I believe this was called for. The statue is la pieta, which shows the body of Jesus. The other picture is Katara holding Kung Fu Action Jesus. Like looking into a mirror, isn't it?

    i wonder if the striking parallels between aang and jesus are intentional. think about it, he's the messiah of their world, he died and was brought back to life, he believes in peace and harmony...dude, total jesus analogy!

    I think the writers were more concerned about getting Aang out of there and saving him, not comparing him to Kung Fu Jesus. Besides, Aang isn't very Kung Fu anyway.
