But the fact that this episode featured an original member of the Gaang as a prominent character is what makes it odd.

Avatar to me, has always been more than just "Hey look at me, I'm Aang and this show only revolves around me!" so it doesn't really seem that odd at all that he wasn't featured.

lol TBR was a GOOD ONE, once you get over the fact that Aang was barely in it.

why does aang need to be in all of it. i mean he is the main character but its interesting to see what the rest of the gaang can do without him and his avatar powers

No, I think the episode was great, but I thought it was a bit odd that Aang had three lines in an hour long episode.

It is odd, but I'm kind of grateful. I don't find Aang the most interesting character anymore. I think he's had enough character development in the past 2 seasons. I think Zuko and Katara now will be the main focus, but not just because of The Southern Raiders. Zuko, obviously, is an emotional mess and needs some focusing on =] But we've seen a couple new sides to Katara this season. She showed how she was angry at her dad, how much she really cared for Aang in multiple episodes, how she can bloodbend and the way she reacts to it, and now we're going to see her track down the man that killed her mother. I feel like Aang will be out of the picture for the next two episodes except for the huge "I'm going to fight the Fire Lord" scene.
