New MMORPG Avatar: Legends of the Arena

    Heres a summary i found somewhere of the Big Announcement" at SDCC yesterday:

    Nickelodeon is working on a new MMO based on the Avatar: The Last Airbender titled Avatar: Legends of the Arena. The game will serve as a prequel story to the animated series, and will see up to 4 players battling at once inside of 3D arenas. Victories reap rewards, such as new content, challenges, outfits and other unique equipment.

    One unique aspect of the game is that you will be able to watch, from September through October, special episodes of Avatar which will give you episode-specific hints for unlocking exclusive game content.

    Avatar: Legends of the Arena will be released this September, with a Beta planned to be revealed this afternoon at Comic-Con.

    I wouldn't be too excited, if nickelodeon is working on it...

    If it's a prequel that means that all of the stuff happens before the events of series take place right ? So nothing in it occurs after Sozin's Comet ? The whole prequel concept is a very funny thing to me.... We won't learn anything new from the game if it's a prequel....

    I wanted something WoW quality. There go the rest of my hopes and dreams, since a Avatar MMO has SO MUCH potential it isn't even funny.

    Pick a faction, 8 move-set, environment is bendable.

    It could be so awesome, but won't be.

    I wouldn't mind a lot of fighting and stuff so long as there was a story and other stuff to do where you can interact and what not. If it was like WoW then eh, it will need to be reduced to less grinding and more fun. I wish we could have a Naruto MMO there is a lot of possibility there.

    There's a DBZ MMO?! I must find it!!! I geuss I got my hopes high up for nothing if this is the big announcement. I'll probably check the game out though just for the hell of it.

    An MMO from Nickelodeon? Hah. Some large expansive game development studios with years under their belts of delivering at least adequate games can't shell out a decent MMO.

    It takes a lot of hard work, a lot of effort, and unimaginable resources to create a decent MMO. MMOs usually suck to be honest, only a few in the market are worth checking into. I'm not saying MMOs suck, but the market is already completely saturated and everybody is currently either playing:

    A) World of Warcraft, with over 10 million subscribers

    B) Age of Conan, a more popular recently released one with gore shooting out of every orifice

    C) Guild Wars, with 3 million subscribers

    D) Waiting for the Warhammer 40,000, Guild Wars 2, and a few other popular IP MMOs.

    E) Playing EverQuest 2 or an older MMO set.

    Nickelodeon will suck with an MMO.

    God, please let the series continue with another cartoon.
