Nickelodeon (ended 2008)

My Theory on why we're waiting. (may surprise you) Pure Speculation, BTW.

I never bashed Nick for holding out on new episodes. What I hate them for is that they aren't showing season 3 reruns. Sure, I can see "a few" of them on "Turbo Nick" but I still don't like that they aren't giving us the stuff we already have. They've basically spat on AtLA fans by teasing us that there will be any episode on some Friday and then not giving us jack. At least give us the reruns.

    "foolishness of Nick" list

    no much ads for it

no repeats of book 3 except for 306(only in kids on demand if you have it, and at that only a few weeks, never seen more than 3 choices in it)

allowing DVD 3 and book to be before the final 10 episodes

    airing only Fridays night

making Avatar a footnote at KCA

The more interesting video is the one next to it, showing Haru and Azula. Together. Getting married.

that sounds reasonable, tom.... They're not so tact when it comes to it's advertising it seems. But this sounds like a common production conundrum that I hear about in my classes.

What about Invader Zim? I guess Nick just isn't that good with more 'mature' shows, and they could've easily shown reruns of S1-3 until the finale was ready.

I'm not saying this completely lets Nick off the hook. Why haven't they been airing re-runs? Why haven't they been advertising the show? All I am saying is that maybe there's a reason for the wait that's more complex than 'Nick is stupid'.

And I agree, DP and Invader Zim got screwed over a lot more.

I'm learning about tradmark. And that might have something to do with it. They want to be associated with a certain trademark and Avatar isn't it. I figure that's the case. it's not quite idiocy as it is priorities (Dispite the fact that this show is REALLY GOOD comparitivly and they're likely to get more cash by pushing it a bit more.... but.... ya know.... Priorities)... no cartoon Like avatar's (or DP) been on nick before that I know of.... they've leaned more toward slap-stick and gross-out humer ever since I was a little girl! It would be odd to see them change so readily.

....Wow, Sometimes it's hard to give people he benifit of the doubt.....

Now, Nick could advertise better for Avatar and draw more of a crowd in before the new episodes come.

I don't watch Nick anymore, so I don't know how often they show that Avatar commercial. But I'm still basically blaming Nick, not Bryke. I love them too much.

I agree. Bryke are to 'blame' but it's not too bad if their reason is good.

Have you been on my brain Tomtitan? That's what I've been saying around here ever since the book came out! Not confirming, but that's what came to mind when the book came out. There was a time when pretty much everyone here believed the series would end in May. Who's to say Nick didn't believed the same. So having a book published about the end coming out at the end of the show with special interviews sound good, right? But the series took too long and the books were made. Sitting on books is a risky investment so they sell them anyway. If that's what happened then it's not really their fault per se. Crap happens...
So I'm with Tomtitan on this!

Okay, the biggest question in the fandom besides 'when will Avatar air?' is 'why isn't Avatar airing?'

I think I have an answer.

Watch the first 2 minutes of this video and ignore the dreadful picture quality.

Basically, Bryke say in this video that they're about 2 weeks away from finishing the finale. Which means the finale isn't finished yet (well it is by now, but my point still stands).

Maybe Nick hasn't been airing new episodes because they want to wait until the finale is completed.

Maybe they released the book and DVD early because long ago they thought that the finale would've been aired by now (which it couldn't have been anyway), so they set a release date for the book and DVD (which I hear is notoriously hard to change once it's been set).

Maybe Nick isn't as much to blame as we think they are. Maybe Bryke are to 'blame' for taking a long time to make the finale to make it as epic as possible.

And for die-hard Nick haters, remember they're still partially to blame for ordering season 3 late.

So, yeah, they can't air the finale now, because it's only just been finished.

And maybe they haven't been airing the episodes before that (312-317) because they want to air the last 10 episodes closely to each other.

Of course that still raises the question of why they're not airing it in July.

Maybe they didn't know when it would be finished, so they played it safe by making it in July, just before the predetermined DVD release date.

So, yeah, don't just mindlessley bash Nick and don't just mindlessley worship Bryke, both are only human.

/Tomtitan ranting. Flame me please for not agreeing with you.

I agree with most of what you say

That's probably the main reason. I;m betting that they had to retool the final fight for being too violent, though I was hoping they would get to do what they wanted with it, because usually networks give the final episodes of a show a little more leeway for content.

Part of me of excited about the thought of there being a delay because of censorship issues. Though we wouldn't be able to see that in the network showing. What if on the DVD, it was uncut?! *foams at the idea*

That probably wouldn't happen. But wouldn't it be awesome if that was true?
