lulz. Did they really hype it up that much?
But usually shippings don't lie. By the end of the show the main ship always come together. Sadly... *zutara supporter*

Seeing Song and what the FN did to her and her family, learning about living a life of simple poverty, seeing how that village reacted to him in "Zuko Alone" even after he saved the day, helping Jet feed the other refugees, dating Jin, freeing Appa and going through that metamorphosis, discarding the Blue Spirit mask, standing up to Azula and getting thrown in a cave for it, at least bonding with Katara, heck, backtracking a little, at the end of "The Chase," in "The Winter Solstice," and "The Storm," we saw that Zuko cared more about the safety of his uncle and people who counted on him more than capturing the avatar.

Ever since he mentioned her name at the end of Season 1, he had shown nothing but contempt for Azula. Yet, he sided with her over Iroh for the sake of capturing Aang, regaining his honor and helping the FN win. None of that followed the build up.

Bryan and Mike weren't hyping anything. Shipping hype comes from YOU PEOPLE. If character A has screen time with character B and they aren't at each others' throats(and sometimes even when they are) that's seen as some crazy foreshadowing of them winding up together.

I'll never understand why people care so much about it, but if it keeps them watching the show, so be it.

But shipping is a terrible reason to watch a show. And it saddens me greatly when I hear people Bryke bash when their ship doesn't come through.

Though Bryke make some hype about the shipping, but they do it for the lulz. The probably is, serious shippers get butthurt about this and moan and whine that Bryke were teasing them. Yes, they were teasing you. Because you make it so easy.

    Shippers..

I detest shipping as much as anyone else, but if I'm Bryan and Mike, if worrying about Katara and Zuko doing the nasty is why you watch, then so be it. However, I'm not about to cowtow to your personal preference one bit...

The sad thing is, the rabid shippers make up the bulk of our fanbase. The truth is, if it wasn't for zutarians, the Avatar community might not be big enough to survive. Think about it, would a smaller community really wait through nine months of hiatus? Not likely. But because the community was so big we stuck through it. And if it wasn't for the fanbase the show would really be nothing. This is what happens with cult following shows, they rely on the fanbase.

tl;dr version: no shippers=no Avatar fanbase.
