The Avatar is supposed to be able to bend all the elemets, amd do so stronger than others.

But it seems in Aang's case that this is not true. He refuses to firebend, and there are many people who can bend better than him.

Katara is the best waterbender we have seen so far. Iroh seems to be one of the best firebenders. Toph, despite what most think about Kind Bumi, is the best earthbender.

Together, Katara, Toph, Iroh and Aang--working as if the one avatar being with the four bending arts--will be what defeats the firenation and brings peace, not aang in the avatar state.

Agree? Disagree? Opinons? Please tell me them, but do not be mean as I am only putting my opinon.

Awesome, we have the same thoughts about that! ^_^ http://www.tv.com/avatar-the-last-airbender/show/28841/official-discussion-the-guru-the-crossroads-of-destiny-12-1---spoilers/topic/13281-593368/msgs.html&page=8?tag=board_topics;page_9;0

I really really would love to have Toph as the Avatar.

And I'm beginning to think that Earth benders are the most powerful. Most structures are made from the earth, people walk on land, not water - they are the most formidable. Now, metal chains have no effect on Toph! She kicks ass! O_o

    I forgot about that.

Plus, it seems that his Avatar Spirit has died.

i agree! and, since toph can metalbend now, she really is the best earthbender. she was kinda being a little too braggy when she said she was the best earthbender in the world. but, i totally, 100% agree with what you said.

    Aang IS alive
But the avatar spirit is seperate from Aang's, and the AS has seemed to have died.

I believe his Avatar Spirit didn't die. Remember how he had a vision of Katara captured and everything faded, as well? It might be the same thing, I think. And I'm starting to feel that Azula does have bad aim. She missed Iroh's heart, and it looks like the hole in Aang's back might be lower than his heart.

After thinking about it I don't think Aang lost his avatar spirit, because after Katara heals him, his tattoos glow.?? I think this was giving us comfermation that he is still the Avatar.

"8. Re: Did Aang loose his Avatar powers???!!! | 12/02/2006 3:12am OK, even with the huge cliffhanger, I think I can hazard a guess at what happened.

    Imagine,
if you will, the Avatar as being a normal person with two spirits
inhabiting their body: Their own, and the Avatar Spirit. Roku was very
specific (kinda) when he told Aang about the Avatar State.

"If you are killed in the Avatar State, the reincarnation cycle will be broken, and the Avatar will cease to exist."

    When
Aang died, both spirits were killed. Using the special water, Katara
managed to bring back AANG's spirit; most likely, the AS is dead.

Which would eliminate the Avatar State. Also, when aang dies, the avatar will not be reincarnated, and will cease to exist.

Also, about the tattoos, since Airbender Tattoos are very spiritual, it's possible that the water from the oasis trigger something in the tattoos."

from Orsa3 in the "Did Aang loose his Avatar powers???!!!" thread.

The tattoos only glow when Aang is in the Avatar State. Look at all the episodes of him doing so. When it flickered, it was a flicker of hope that not all is lost and a metaphor to show that hope is hard to kill.

I know that that one scene is the only thing I can base my speculation on, but I can't wait for season 3 for the creators to say something about Aang's death.

On the other hand, the other reason why the Avatar Spirit is still alive in Aang is because of the Oasis water. The ocean/moon spirit practically have their spiritual powers bless the water by swimming in it! Since it is the most powerfully spiritual water, it has enough power to heal and bring back the Avatar state.
