PLEASE NOTE: I DID NOT WRITE THIS MYSELF. I COPIED and PASTED IT OFF OF THE DISTANT HORIZON FORUMS!
MAJOR SPOILERS
I went to the DC premiere. Hardly anyone was there. In a theater that could have probably fit 300-500 there were at best 40 people. It was kind of sad. Not good for Nick, but they really should have chosen a better time than 1pm. And the goody bags weren't too hot- a few trading cards, and Appa tattoo and a postcard. No wait- I have a thing that will get me a free poster. Never mind. And the pictures of the video game look cool.
Also, Avatar will be going every friday after the 15th, excepting special occasions. And the guy who talked at the beginning said that starting the 25th, ATLA would be on everyday. I think he meant EVERYDAY but he might have meant for just that week. Who knows.
Alrighty, DO NOT count on grammar or any semblance of order in this post. I am merely typing things as I remember. Most of it you guys already know (the other spoilers that were released a while ago) so I will just touch on some things that those didn't.You know.....funny, quirky quotes and what not.
1.When the Gaang encounters the Serpent, first thing Sokka does is offer Momo as a "tasty" sacrifice. This, I found infinitely amusing. Shortly after that when Aang and Katara are fighting the Serpent, Katara makes herself and ice skate/surf board and surf around helping Aang. It was the *****.
2. Aang, it seems has completely blocked out his emotions, because he was upset about how angry he got over Appa. He didn't like how out- of -control mad he got, so he bottled everything up and became completely deadpan. Katara tries to comfort him in the form of a hug and he walks away. It was heartbreaking even for a Zutarian like myself.
A little while later, right after the baby(soon to be named "Hope" is born) is when he finally turns back into a human. Katara says "Aang, I really think you should see this" and shows him the new baby and the family. He starts tearing up and tells Katara and the others that he was upset, and thought that he was being strong by not showing it. But he realizes now that he was wrong, and that they'd brought hope to his life etc (I forget exactly what he said- this is the point when they name the baby "Hope"). Anyways, Katara and Aang leave the rock tent the family is in, and Aang tells her that that family reminded him of how he felt about Appa. And how he felt about her. She, in tears, hugs him.
While it is plain that Aang still likes her, it really did seem to me like she was just glad he was back to normal. Honestly. Everyone had been worried about him. One of the first thing Suki asked was "Are you okay, Aang?" Of course, I know not everyone will agree with my interpretation of the situation. I am open to discussion. To me, it didn't feel a shipper-y like some Kataang moments do. It felt more Katara just being happy everything is okay. And it felt like the creators tossed bait into a rabid crowd. Ah, well.
3.Zuko and Jet
(rough summary of their happenings through the whole movie)
Zuko is complaining about food to Iroh, when Jet comes and asks if Zuko would help him take some food out of the captains stores. The captain was eating like "a rich fat king" (Iroh went completely puppy-dog at this phrase). Anyway, Zuko helps, and Iroh and Zuko get to know Jet and his crew a little bit. Then Jet asks if Zuko will join, and Zuko says "I don't think you want me in your crew" etc. Jet notices Iroh's now hot tea (it had been cold-he'd been complaining).
It is clear that Jet is now going to go after Iroh and Zuko (we all already knew that).
Anyways, some interesting/funny moments were when Zuko knocks Iroh's teacup from him and says that for an old man, he's stupid for firebending his tea, and Iroh says "I know it's not good to cry over spilled tea, but.....*sniffles* It's so sad!"Also, I have developed a new obsession for a minor role character. Long shot. He's the tall, silent type, through and through. It's hilarious, because he never says a word, and they talk to him like they are carrying on a conversation. It's awesome.
4.When they get to Ba Sing Se, they see the giant drill, yada yada, if you're reading the spoilers section you already know.Sokka comes up with the plan of how to destroy the drill, when Katara is talking to a "wounded" earthbender who is describing the girl who "jabbed and hit him in a few spots, and he could hardly move"(Ty Lee-by the way, I don't know when it happened, but the Gaang knows her name). They talk about ho Ty Lee can stop people from the inside out, and the Sokka says they should try that on the drill.
They should destroy it from the inside.
So, Toph, gets then under he drill, they go inside (not Toph-she stays and tries to help from the outside) and they begin. They have to freeze an engineer and steal his plans of the drill, which is how intruders are detected later on. Katara and Aang weaken all the support beams, when the Dangerous ladies find them. (Best line by Ty Lee for all the Ty Lokka shippers- "You were right Azula, it is the Avatar! And friends... *suggestive eyes*. Sokka goes "Um, hi!")
They split up, Aang going to the top of the drill to deliver the final blow to their weakened drill (Azula hot on his trail), and Sokka and Katara to go outside with Mai and Ty Lee following. They escape through this pipe that has all the dirt and rock (and water, but I don't know how that got there)from the wall going through it, and now only Ty Lee is following. Mai didn't want to get dirty. Katara and Toph end up bending the mud to stay inside the drill and build up pressure.
(On the top of the drill) One of the best fight scenes yet. Maybe the best, Azula has MOVES. Aang ends up killing the drill by skydiving onto this sledge of rock which is embedded in a crack he made in the roof. Just so everyone is clear, the drill breached the wall, but not in an effective way. No one can get through.
Also, it is now a sure thing in my mind that the girl who is in the family in the beginning is Zuko's date. No question.
If I remember more, I'll post later. My hands hurt.
She also mentioned that Tahn's sister and Zuko meet at the end, but that's about it.
