Yeah, I noticed that from the beginning, which is interesting because Meng had a crush on Aang (I still hate how their names rhyme) and Toph is the "someone [Aang's] loved and lost". Maybe there's some sort of connection, probably not though, the creators probably just didn't want to waste time finding another voice actress and Toph and Meng are around the same age.

Wait, how did he love and lose her? Can someone explain that to me please?

Technically he didn't lose her, he saw her in the swamp and??Hue (the swamp guy) said that "In the swamp we see visions of people we loved, people we lost." Which spawned all the Toph death theories and stuff. I think all it really met was that he hadn't met her yet but she'd be important to him somehow.

Ah so Meng was that little girl that was shown in only one episode... it was in season one and that episode is none other than The Fortuneteller. Well the Avatar producers probably wanted to get the star voice actress Jessie Flower ASAP, and while she waited to voice Toph during season one, (since Toph doesn't appear until season 2) the producers decided to test out her voice and stuff on a side character first in seasone one. Interesting theory. Well at least to me.
