    Bending Thread

Hi! Like most of you I am sick of dupes about the different forms of bending so I made this to hopefully end that with one major bending resource and discussion thread.

    Waterbending

    • Draws power from moon.
    • Can bloodbend (bending water inbody only on full moon.)
    • Can bend water in vines/plants.
    • Can , freeze, evaporate, melt, and condense water.
    • Some have special healing abilities.
    • Waterbending's strength is its defensive capabilities. Waterbending's defensive maneuvers focus on control through turning an opponent's own strength against him which fits into.
    • "the first waterbender was the moon".
    • opposite to firebending

Note: waterbenders can only help heal by directing chi with water, even though only waterbenders can use it waterbending is not the healing part.

Mainwaterbenders: katara, master pakku, hama, the avatars, Huu and du (swamp)

    Earthbending

    • Learnt from blind badgermoles.
    • Can bend the earth impurities in metal. not the metal itself.
    • Can bend crystals, sand, rocks, soil, "earthly meteorites", coal.
    • Opposite to airbending.
    • Earthbenders use a balance of strength and defense to overwhelm opponents.
    • opposite to airbending

Mainearthbenders: Toph, the avatars, Haru, king Bumi, Long feng, the dai lee

    Firebending

    • learnt from dragons and affected by the sun / comets (sozins comet)
    • Stronger with the sun/sozins comet
    • Blue fire (azula) is hotter thannormal orangefire
    • Lightning (very advanced)"purest form of fire", "cold blooded fire" as inner peace is needed to bend it.
    • Combustion firebending to super-heat the air and produce explosions
    • Very aggressive with little defensive moves
    • opposite to waterbending

Main firebenders:Zuko, Iroh, Ozai, Azula, Jeong jeong.

    Airbending

    • Learnt from sky bison's
    • Can control air currents with gliders
    • Can bend gasses in the air
    • Mostly evasive moves which support their beliefs of peace
    • opposite to earthbending

note: there is no known sub skill for the airbenders eg healing,lightning... but it has been speculated to be flying/gliding and bending poison gas etc

    Main airbenders:the avatars, monk gyatzu.

    Bending in general:

    • 2 non benders can have a bending child
    • the idea of multi-national benders hasnt been explored (FN+EK=?)
    • fire nation people in ek cannot have earthbending children as they are not earthkingdom- same with northern air temple people

Note: all bending has purposefully been shown to be equal in the show no type of bending is stronger than the other.

please use this thread to discuss any topics involving bending e.g

    • other possible bending abilities
    • new bending
    • bendings affect on society e.g FN more advanced technology compared to other nations which rely moreon bending
    • airbending special abilities

please be respectful of other members. and have fun!

Double post, but oh well, my thread. Our last question was:

Who, if anyone, can bend mercury?

if anyone can. it would be the earth benders . and even then it would only be the super bad ass earth benders than can bend the metal in the earth as mercury is a metal it is just molten at room temperature. waterbenders would have no affect as their is no h20 in mercury just because it is in liquid state doesnt mean it can be waterbended. but then i might be wrong ( my chemistry isnt ) but the creaters / writers can do whatever the feel like so ....

Well since you told me to post here, ill post that firebenders can channel other types of energy besides Lightning. Here sozin is using the lightning re-direction technique to channel the heat out of the lava.

Please ask other questions! This isn't just a mercury discussion! Ask away, and you will, maybe, find!

Didn't you get the other one locked? And you should try to make it look more official by capitalizing people's names.

Does anyone think that Azula is the only one who can use blue fire?

No, it's a bloodline technique from the fire element, it requires to have int. +50 or more and a Blue Magician card, also you must be Human, Magician or Elf to do it, and your digisoul must be calmed.
And of course, you must slay the PikaGokuPhoenixDraculaRamon Lord lvl 69 to gain the skill.

    Whoa, that was so retarded...

Anyway, i doubt it, Ursa may be able to do it, maybe even Ozai can do it, we still know nothing about the Blue Fire.

If you had to make a second one of these, wouldn't that indicate the first one wasn't good enough and didn't work? o:

And I take issue with this:
"the idea of multi-national benders hasnt been explored (FN+EK=?)"

What about the guy in the "Blind Bandit" (or whatever) that was waving around the fire-flag and earth-bending? He definitely wasn't from the EK and the way he looked matched the FN. Makes a person wonder, no?

I think he was EK, he just cut his hair to look FNish and used FN-like cloth.

Also, this is in no way official, but i think:
    FB+ EB = 40% chance FB, 40% chance EB, and 20% chance Non-Bender, or maybe it's 45%, 45% and 10%
    Or it could also be:
Male FB + Female EB = 50% chance FB, 30% chance EB and 20% chance NB, or 55%, 35% and 10%
now, we could variate even more if we concider the bloodline of bending from each one of the parents, but that would be too complicated and im lazy =P

Well if you think about it, it really is just more intense fire so I don't see why Azula is the only one who can. Theoretically it'd be easier to bend blue fire than to generate lightning.

That guy could easily be from the EK just not like it and prefers the views of the FN. Or he could just be a gimmick to get the crowd going.

This isn't shipping people. You can't discount my theories without proof!

Albeit I have no proof to support he was Fire Nation, but I don't think EK people have *that* dark of a hair, *that* crazy loyalty to the FN, and *that* much lame factor. ...well the last one isn't provable but you get the idea.

1.- His hair was brown, wich many have, but the darkest EK hair i have seen is, black, yeah, i doubt you can get darker than that.
2.- It's more than likely just a gimmick, in Wrestling there are all sorts of crazy gimmicks to get the crowd going, in WWE there are plenty of "french, italian, japanese, etc." guys who just have some clothing and a fake accent.

No offense, but like i said, it's just my opinion, until Bryke say it, there is no way to know anything.

    Zuko's hair: http://water-bender.com/images/bios/zuko.jpg

    Man in question's hair: http://water-bender.com/images/bios/fnman.jpg

Taking into account lighting and shading, I'd say they're only the tiniest shade different. Granted, Toph also has dark hair.

People never change their hair in Avatar EXCEPT the main characters who did so for creativity on the part of the writers or to be in disguise. I would say that this trend would support that he is indeed Fire Nation...although very fat.

By dark I'll assume you mean black. I have a question what colour was the Earth King's hair? What about Jet? I'm pretty sure they were black. So that isn't really proof, and it's much more likely that is just a gimmick like I said before.
