M Night Shyamalan Talks The Last Airbender! May be PG-13!

I think PG-13 would be great. What do you think the average age of the fanbase-- sorry, fannation-- is? I know online most avatards I talk to are at least my age (13), but I would think that a lot of the younger fans don't dwell deep into the interwebs. My niece and nephew (10 and 8 ) watch this show (when they can find it which is difficult just going my the advertisments Nick puts out). Some times (especially when it started) I think they may be kinda young for this show, but something I've noticed about kids: they don't go nearly in depth as these forums. There's something of a wading pool to Pacific Ocean difference. When they learn all the airbenders are dead they don't think genocide-- a lot don't even know the term -- and they don't think how similar things have happened in real life. If they don't already know something they can't reconise it, and if they reconise it then they already know it.

Also, I've seen somethings about blood a couple time in this forum. I just want to say that the censoring out of blood to make something PG annoys me. You know what happens when you get stabbed with a knife? You bleed! I think editing out blood makes the kid more influenced to use weapons than if the blood was shown. Generally kids associate blood with pain. The characters who are fighting would be tougher than your average six-year-old, so they wouldn't show pain or at least not as much as a child in the stiuation. So without the blood kids are less likely to realize that something hurts and more likely to try it themselves. But regardless of whether or not there's blood, I would still want this to have a PG-13 rating if for no other reason than to get a few less little kids in the theater, and maybe get some older fans who actually watched the show.

That was hilarious. I lol'd so hard at that line.

I never even realised it was a reference to emo Pete is emoo in Spidey 3. Or maybe it was foreshadowing for emo Spidey is emoo in episode 11/12.
It was both. Poor dumb Pete, can't see how pimpin' he is in this series. Rivals Sokka even.
Inorite? Mary-Jane Watson, Liz Allen, Gwen Stacey, almost Betty Brandt, that guy's a MF pimp!

That's a technical 4. Sokka, that's a technical 4 (Yue, Suki, Ty-Lee, and that groupie in the new comic) and like I said, HE'd be the pimp if he had his game straight on that Tales of Ba Sing Say episode during that Haiku moment.

I wonder if we will still be talking about this after the season 3 finale? I mean it's a long wait until July 4, 2010. I predict half or more of the fanbase will drop off and take a much-deserved hiatus of their own from Avatar and Nickelodeon.

I had a horrible dream last night. I went to watch the movie, and the whole movie was centered on the great divide. Halfway through the movie, the cinema was shalf empty and the remaining people were throwing stuff at the screen.

its gonna be PG people! All he said is that its gonna be hard for him to make it a PG movie since he is used to making R rated movies and besides even if it is gonna be PG-13,(which its not) it wouldnt be that much of a difference from a PG movie, their isnt much difference between the PG Harry Potter movies than the PG-13 ones. Also, he wouldn't make a family show as a PG-13 movie even if he is M Night Shyamalan. ITS COMMON SENSE!

Uh..."The Happening" is his only R rated movie so far. All the rest have been PG-13.

But yeah, the line between PG and PG-13 can be pretty fine, like it can be between PG-13 and R.

I mean, who saw "Prince Caspian?" Pretty damn brutal for a PG movie if you ask me.

Why would it matter if he made a family show PG-13 or not? Afterall, there isn't any much difference either way, right?

Though I get defensive if my brother verbally attacks a character. No matter who it is, I'll defend them. He even called Azula a Mary Sue! DD: Though I think he said that because he knows I like her. (he doesn't know I'm downright obsessed with her I don't think)

Make sure he doesn't find the love shrine dedicated to her in your closet.

    Don't worry, that's well hidden. ;D

I heard The Happening (Shyamalan's latest movie) got bad reviews at Rotten Tomatoes. But they give bad reviews all the time.

Exactly. And really is the rating going to stop anyone from going to see it? I suspect once again that the majority of the Avatar 'religion' are NOT the intended 9-14 year old male demographic.

But the point is because we are not in the key demographic it may ruin our enjoyment of it or rather not meet our expectations. The rating is circumstantional and does no necessarily mean it will be bad but increases the chances.
