I am very curious to know how Aang will react to finding out that Long Feng and his Di Lee agents buried Appa alive.
My assumption is that there won't be a brick of Ba Sing Se left, with a giant crater being the only landmark of where the city used to be.
Don't take this personally but your theory is stupid.
Ba Sing Se and the residents are the good guys in the war...Besides if Aang destroyed Ba Sing Se then the FN would win the war instantly because that was the only form of resistance left.
So you're theory...insane at best.
Well I don't think his theory is insane, just implausible, we have seen in "the desert" that Aang is very protective of Appa. Now if he found Appa in their possesion and in bad shape, it might be enough to trigger the Avatar state and if that happened I wouldn't give much chance for Ba Sing Se or at least a 5 mile radius of where ever he found Appa.
The major differenc about the deseret was that the sandbenders weren't on the 'good' side they were just people who stole Appa.
If he hulks up in Ba Sing Se then he'd be hurting the 'good guys' keeping in mind the Dai Lee are the evil ones in the city the rest of the city is filled with good people that are on the Avatar's side. Aang isn't stupid he's not going to start destroying the city because he knows this.
lol, you're wrong. the "main difference" as you put it didn't really matter at all when Aang went into the avatar state during the desert. He was simply Pissed. Remember now that not all the sandbenders present during that time were (as you put it) "badguys". Infact if i remember correctly, that old man wanted nothing more than to help Aang.
Next I will like to point out how little "Aang's intelligence" matters. It's not an option for him of "when" he goes into the avatar state, He doesn't just go "ooh evil, avatarstate now". It is involuntary (big sp). For example, when he saw that the firenation had attacked him home, He went into the avatar state, the only ones present and at any danger during that time was Katara and Sokka (who were scared as hell). Aang showed very little emotion/caring about their wellbeing.
Last, The city of BSS, and it's inhabitants are not "the good" side. As they choose to ignore the problem completely. By doing so they allow the FN to get as far as they've gotten, They are also not really "on the avatar's side" as they dont even care about him. "the avatar will end the war" is the belief of " the good people" in this show. It is hard to believe that if you live in BSS and have been brainwashed into believing that there is no war. Aang is just a "symbol"/Novity" to the people of BSS(the citizens), and at most, a threat to the Dai-lee. So as far as where the people of BSS lie on the "line of good and evil". They simply dont know of this " evil" you speak of, and if you're not part of the solution, you become the problem. Therefore I think they only help the FN by ignoring them.
So basically
Aang doesn't control the avatar state.
Therefore many can get hurt, shi* happens. Unless Katara hugs him (she's got the magic touch).
oh and his teaching teach him not to kill people, dispite their alliance. while in the avatar state he was surely about to kill the sandbenders.
