whell if by lame you mean not as flashy or stialish then personaly I think the lamest of the four is firebending,??I am saying that becuse the basic move is extending an arm an a single fireball is shot, now i know there are more advance moves but thet is basicly that they do. that my point of veiw anyway.

but firebenders could bend alot including, lava, lighting, that blue fire thingy and practically anything thats firey....ok that made no sense did it?... oh well...you'll get me sooner or later...

As for Waterbenders, clearly it takes a VERY experienced Waterbender to be able to bend water inside someone's body. None of the benders we've seen in the show have had that skill, so it's probably on par with lightning with Firebending.

Which means Katara will probably learn it around the same time Zuko learns lightning.

Really, all of the elements are powerful. Fire and air are the easiest to have, since air is pretty much everywhere and you can create fire with your body heat. Water and earth typically require an outside source, except for extremely skilled Waterbenders who can use vapor.

Fire and water are dependant on outside influences, namely the solar and lunar cycles, and become useless during an eclipse of their patron. Air and earth appear to be equally useful all the time.

As was previously stated, each bending style has it's own strengths and weaknesses.?? Aang has been held captive because his arms were bound.?? An entire village of earth benders were held prisoner on a metal rig out at sea.?? There was a methane pocket at the Northern Air Temple that the Fire Nation army didn't know about.?? Had they, their bending would have ignited it.?? Katara was limited in the desert because of the limited supply of water available to her.?? To extreme extents, we know that a lunar or solar eclipse will prevent the water- and fire-bending, respectively.

Just like martial arts, there is no lame style.?? Each style has it's own strengths and weaknesses.??

I don't think it depends on the element. It's the bender, right?

Roight. None of the disciplines have no inherent advantages or disadvantages against the others. The show has repeatedly illustrated that it's the skill and prowess of the user that determines whether they win or not. Also its been said that experienced waterbenders can use the water in the air. Guess Katara's just not there yet (in the show anyway).

Are you sure? I mean, gawshh, they're can't be that much moisture in the air. o_o It's like when they bending water will be popping out of 'nowhere'...
    ??

Seriously???There is a lot more in the air than most people realize and water is the most dominant. Though some areas have more moisture than others. Either way lets not forget about the fluid animation of this show. I can certainly see someone making hand movements, water vapor start to appear, becomes more gaseous, then turn to liquid. It'll be interesting to see it in action, besides on the game.

Whoaa, I never knew that. O.O Oh, and this is to the smart aleck- I almost just turned 15, I havent had chemistry yet, duhh. Gawsh...*rolls eyes*
Two things. 1) I took basic chemistry when I was 12/13. 2) I was being sarcastic. That's something you should just know.

i took honors chem when i was 13...

    I agree.

But, technically clouds are made of/have water vapor in them, and both Aang and Katara could bend the clouds easily in The Fortuneteller.

The main point of airbending is being able to either manipulate air currents or move things, which is especially easier when they're not grounded (ie in the air).

I really like all of the bending styles. They are all useful in different ways, but they all have their weaknesses. If I had to choose my least favorite, it would probably be air. Sure they can fly, movie quickly, and move stuff, but I mean, how do they actually win a fight? By running away, disarming their opponent, knocking them down? It is really cool to be an airbender, but not my favorite.

airbenders could easily slam someone against a wall or the ground. that would sure knock them out.

If they felt the need to. Let's not forget that these are pacifist monks who try to avoid conflict.
