katara or azula

who would win in a showdown between katara and azula?

    No, Katara sucks compared to Azula and the only reason Azula didn't kill her sorry butt??within seconds is because Azula was testing Zuko's loyalty. Just look at the look on Azula's face everytime Zuko helps her. All Azula was doing was pretending to be helpless to see how much she has convinced Zuko to join her by hoping he will jump in and defend her. Katara is NOTHING compared ot Azula in bending. All Azula had to do was strike her with lightning once and Avatar would have been rid of it's worst character. Seriously, do you think Katara would have lasted long by defending herself with water from lightning? I repeat LIGHTNING!!!

    I totally I agree, I'm totally contradicting what I've previously said but I totally agree. It's a cartoon, the only actual reason why Katara got so good, is because the creators made it that way, in reality, no she wouldn't have gotten good that fast if for no other reason a girl named Katara who lived in the South Pole and could "magically" control water would have never existed anyway!??At this point I WANT them to exagerate her waterbending abilite only because I love waterbending and want to see more of it, it would be kind of boring if all she was able to do was stream water and push and pull it.

    When you think about it, this thread is pointless, sort of like Blackfire_bird said...you can't reason with cartoons so trying to guess what fictional character would win in a fight between another ficitional character is impossible. One day the one fictional character could suck and the other could be a prodigy (where did I hear that before... ?? ) but then OUT OF NO WHERE! the fictional character could train with a master for all we know maybe FIVE minutes, maybe it was ten years compressed into a two minute scene, who really knows, who really cares? Point is, no matter how much something makes sense, or doesn't make sense, anything and everything goes in the world of cartoons.

    You could also ask:

    Why suddenly is Zuko beating Aang when he could never before? Why, if now Zuko could supposedly fight better can Katara take him on without the assistance of the moon, but Aang could not when he could take him on every other time? Why is Azula able to take on Zuko who could take on Katara and not beat her, when Zuko was able to beat her before or at least take her on without noticably winning? Why are we suppose to assume that Katara is some great waterbending master but not Aang? Isn't he the avatar? People say he's goofing off, but they showed that in??only??one episode, how do we know he's not training hard (like he claimed in episode 30) now? How come Katara, even though??she was near a large body of water, (the river in " The Chase " ) not able to take Ty Lee or Mai on, in fact was beaten by them in less than 2 minutes, BUT was able to take Azula on and nearly beat her if it weren't for Zuko?

    POINT IS: Don't reason with??cartoons, before this episode everyone knew that??Katara would get her @ss kicked by Azula, but then one episode changed all that???That just proves, don't??ever??assume when it comes to cartoons, chances are, even if your theroy makes all the sense in the world, there's still a good chance, it will NEVER happen. But, seriously, don't let me deter you from making theories (as if I could...) I'm just saying don't ever say, "This HAS to happen" because, no, no it doesn't. Just don't ever get your hopes up; my motto: "Low expectations are the key to happiness."

    Like lookin into a f***in mirror. No bull. That's basically it, I mean you guys can speculate and try to make it up as much as ya want ("he/she does clearly must do most of it offscreen"), but when it all comes down to it, there's honestly no leg to stand on, its just the creators little blips. Naturally this isn't absolute, there have been series that have broken and risen above shackling tropes like these. Yeah like nine. Anywho as long as they plan on toning it down a bit (roight) its all good. Yeah, ya'know if they do plan on extendin the series or whatever (not saying anything here) I really wish they had settle on it earlier. Would've evened so much crap out. Eh.

    yea i know azula is still better but i dont see why ppl are shocked at why katara has gotten much better

    Azula hands down. But then it sorta can depend on the weather and environment. But seriously, it took Aang, the Avatar a lot of energy to defeat Azula in the Drill--then she pays him back with a lightning through the heart. So it would seem, if she ever lost to someone, she'd make sure she came back with a firey vengence. Did you remember when Iroh kicked Azula off her own ship? What did Azula do? She struck him with lightning... Hmm there's definately a pattern going on here.

    Anyway, like I said, I think it'd be Azula. But if Katara did win, she'll have it coming.

    "Shocked" is kinda relative. What most people dislike is the lack of temperance and probability regarding her bending. Which once again brings us back to the end of season 1. At the end episode 18, she's entering Pakku's training, then in the beginning of 19, she exiting it is and is deemed a master. All in all, we're not provided with any firsthand visual interpretation of the training (just see her handing it to a bunch of boys, ...yeah girl power, eh) or how long they've been at it. Either way, it didn't seem all that much time had passed. In the end, it all comes of as if they just made her really strong really fast because they realized that she really wasn't contributing all that much. And her character developement kinda stops at the bending. I think that's about it.

    If you remember the episode of the drill he uses water on azula's hands but he didn't have enough.

    LOL Don't even get me started about Toph. I don't remember who I chose, I like 'em both and they are both good. Don't bother complaining to me about Katara getting better just for the plot, because its not all true. I won't go there at the moment though.
