katara or azula

who would win in a showdown between katara and azula?

    depends...is there a large amount of water or ice present?

    without a large body of water (lets say there is a mid sized pool or fountain)
    Azula has Katara here hands down, no contest

    with a large body of water
    the fight now becomes far more even, though I have a feeling that Azula just underestimated Katara, that was after all the first time she had faced her in a real fight. I'm still leaning towards Azula, but Katara would definatly put up a great fight here

    Well, I??voted Katara but now I'm not so sure. In TCoD she had the slight upper-hand??fighting Azula until Zuko came along. Then again, it probably depended on the environment they were in...and Azula is really powerful, what with the lightning and all...
    So, in conclusion, I don't know

    If Katara got a chance she could take down Azula. If Azula hit Katara with a??bolt of lightning then Katara could pull up a piece of ice then the ice would absorb the lightning. Or just break into pieces.

    Correction. Katara was winning because there was plenty of water; without??a large amount of water Azula would win... with only Katara's bending water, Azula would crush Katara

    No offense to all of you Katara-lovers out there, but that fight Azula and Katara had was a joke. I mean COME ON! Aang is the avatar and he couldn't??take Zuko or Azula, but then Katara could take them both on? If the fight was reality based, Azula would have beaten her no problem, large body of water or not, she just has more experience and Katara is no prodigy. But because the show has to be interesting and Katara being beaten in two seconds would have killed the fight scene, they exaggerated her abilites. That really p*ssed me off though, I mean, it's a joke it really is, Katara may practice all the time or whatever and I could even see her taking on Zuko but NOT Azula. Azula is a FIREBENDING PRODIGY if her bending isn't perfect, it isn't good enough, so it makes no sense that a mediocre waterbender (or at least she WAS mediocre before they decided to make her a master for Aang's sake) somehow beat her and could take on both her and her brother and the Dai Lee. THAT'S RIDICULOUS, awesome fight scene, BUT RIDICULOUS!

    But, to be honest, I don't care anymore, I mean I hate Katara, because she's basically a Mary-Sue with an anger managment problem, but waterbending is my favorite bending art and since, much to my displeasure, she represents waterbending, I'm starting to get over her powers being exagerated. Of course if they introduced another waterbender, my exageration feelings would come right back, but since the chances of that happening, especially now, are slim to none, I don't care anymore.

    ON TOPIC: I voted Azula, if it were a real none exagerated show down Azula would kick her @ss no problem.

    I agree with you that Azula would win, hands down, and that the fight was a bit exaggerated, but it was still impressive. Even though Azula is a recognized Prodigy, that doesn't mean Katara isn't also. Did you see how quickly she learned from Pakku and how quickly she became a master? Also, it's obvious that Toph, who is an AMAZINGLY, Kick-ass bender (go Toph!!!), could probably be seen as a prodigy also. So don't you think that maybe Katara is just as strong, and possible for being a prodigy just like them?

    I do think she gets too much credit though. Aang should've been able to put up a better fight but maybe since less people were after her than him? Who knows...

    I dislike (and called it from a mile away) that the creators just had to make it so that she on par with her. I honestly got nothing against her, but until we actually see her doing some training, at all, the only people who should be able to go toe to toe with Azula are Toph (der), Iroh, Aang, and if he trains had enough (we which actually see him do once in a awhile) Zuko. Seriously I'm all for equality and that stuff but fail to see why they have to try so hard to make it seem that they're all on the same level. Lets face it, some are stronger or can be considered to be stronger than others. Best example Toph, goes without saying that she's the best on the team.

    Anybody could pwn Katara. I don't hate Katara, she is actually a good character. She is a great waterbender. And there's the kink. She is a waterbender. If there was a large pool Behind a waterbender and Lots of ground beheath an earthbender the earthbender would win. The greatest waterbender couldn't beat a novice earthbender. They might be able to beat a master firebender(Azula is not the greatest firebender) such as Azula. But waterbending is defintely the weakest bending. At least with airbending you can blow people away. The creators fix these fights for the sake of storyline, nothing else. Azula can beat Katara easy. Azula, however is not the greatest bender in the Avatar world. Almost anyone else could beat her. Iroh, Jeong Jeong, Toph, Aang(If the creators would stop fixing fights!), Bumi, Long Feng, hell, Ty lee could. So I'm not sticking up for Azula.

    Ok, I figured I would comment on this one first before putting in my opinion.?? See my next post for my opinion.?? As for this post you are forgetting one thing.?? Water is a conductor of electricity.?? Therefore the lightening would just travel right to Katara.

    I just wanted to say that I voted that Katara would win just because you all are right in saying that she can't win (don't try to make logic out of this cause I'm just crazy) lol

    Ok now for this one.?? You have some valid points.?? Like I pointed out above Azula would be able to use her lightening against Katara because Water is a conductor.?? However I stated in the Toph vs. Azula thread that is also a very valid point too is that fire is an energy element like air.?? Whereas water and earth are more substance.?? So what I mean is that the substance elements can have more physical abilities that the energy elements.?? So we are aware that Azula doesn't know how to breath fire like Zuko or Iroh.?? Therefore it is safe to say that if Katara frozed Azula's arms and legs that the fight would be over.?? In the fight that you deem as ridiculous that is exactly what she did.?? She grabbed her arm and leg.?? So when it comes to a substance element versus an energy element then you are talking a different game.?? Aang would have not problem because he can do all elements but if you Gyatso vs Toph then you could see how she might win and also how she might lose.?? He can do like Aang and sneeze to blow her off a cliff.?? So there are always factors to take account for.?? In a one on one fight between Azula and Katara I am going to say that Katara would win because Azula doesn't have the breath of fire.??

    since this is a kids show there is no reality. Katara won that fight and she would probaly win another one if the enviroment is right. And in that fight the enviroment was right and she would have finished azula off if zuko wouldn't have stepped in. So that proves katara is better than azula.

    it's pretty much based on strategy, Katara proved she's a smarter fighter than azula, she took away azula's hands and feet which is the key to azula's bending. Katara beat azula cause she had lotsa water around her, if she didn't have extra water, azula would own her. With water, katara beats azula. I still don't think we've seen aang really fight, he's been holding back or being stupid almost every time he fights, if he stops fighting like a sissy, and uses the bending he knows (which he's obviously an insane airbender (fortuneteller), he's a good earth bender if he wants to be (The Earth King) and he can waterbend almost as well as katara (even tho he should be able to bend better) but he doesn't ever go insane like Katara does. Katara Azula Toph and Zuko fight to win, Aang fights to stop fighting, that's why he sux in every fight we've ever seen and why he got destroyed in the avatar state, he was in control of the avatar state and doesn't have the ferocity to put it to good use...

    But??where did she learn??how to strategize like that? In the beggining of the show she??could barely bend let alone come up with a fight plan. You could say Pakku, but all we ever saw him teach her were a??few moves not any philosophie or anything, and if he did teach her these things, wouldn't Aang know them as well and have been able to beat Azula, too? I'm just saying, they overdid her abilities and it's just annoying, but, again,??at this point I??don't care??only because I love waterbending and if they have to exagerate??my least favorite character to highlight it, so be it.??

    yeah Katara ...But it really depend where they fight ..if their are fighing in area with alot of water than Katara ..but if their?? are fighting in a desert ,,then I guess katara would have to use her healing water to heal her self...rember that last ep..when Katara was fight azula???well i am so sorry Azual baby but she got you there!!

    They didn't show everything with Pakku. If they did, we would have had another episode based around it. The main purpose of those little training meets were to be based around the fact that Pakku IS training Katara, but they didn't have enough time, nor need to, show us everything. I mean c'mon even with Aang, we only saw 1 true episode of Toph teaching him and he seems to have gotten the hang of it..its around the same basis. Anyway, I chose Katara even though I think, like everyone else said, its based upon the setting. I think they both are one of the best of their kind. (Considering their age) IF they were to fight again I'm sure it will be better because in that fight Azula didn't use any lightning moves against Katara (even before Katara had her wrapped up). Despite this, I think they are bothed equally strong for their own element.
