I think what is being conveyed here is that Aang has to give up his devotion to Katara as his number one priority.?? Afterall, he promised her he would not go into the Avatar State anymore because it scared her (in the Avatar??State episode)??and he also promised her he would not use firebending anymore after he hurt her (in the Deserter episode).??

Aang's destiny is being blocked by the commitments he has made to Katara.?? He is being stifled from his full potential by allowing her to be first in his thoughts.?? So does this mean he will give up his love for Katara, I don't think so... but I think he needs to come to the realization he cannot keep his promises to her AND save the world."

I agree with everthing he says.Katara have been holding aang back from his mission with her BS.She needs to let aang do what he wants so he can become strong enough to defeat the fire lord.

Technically, its not all Katara's fault. She can't help that Aang loves her. Its both their problems (Aang's mostly), not just Katara's. And she only wants Aang not to go into the Avatar state, becuase she knows it ain't all good. It tears her up to see him in pain, which is good and bad depending on how you look at it.

Primonation is a she, but I also agree. Aang's first priority has to be his Avatar duties, not duties to??Katara .

Katara was just scared for Aang because she didn't want to see him in such rage during the AS?? but that's just because she knows he can't control it. But after the guru shows him how, Katara probably won't be so worried, not that it's up to her anyway. When Aang burned her by accident, it was he who said he wasn't going to try firebending again and she was the one who told him he'd have to learn eventually. If Aang's letting his feelings get in the way of progress, then he's the one who's??holding himself back, no one else, that's what the guru's trying to tell him. The Avatar belongs to the world and can't commit himself to any one person.
