This is devoted to Jeong Jeong. I am a full supporter of him teaching Aang, but that is not what this topic is about. I'm interested on what you think happened to him after he disappeared into the forest. (He and his followers, of course.) Please don't put anything stupid, because I really don't like it. Especially when I said that this is not about him teaching Aang. Please don't start a debate on who is going to teach him firebending, because like you, I am tired of the one new thread a day about that topic. So anyway, start speculating!

i doubt he could evade the fire nation for a while, he's probably been captured. Sure, Aang evaded them but he had Appa. And jet lived in the earth kingdom. After a new search was started for him he probably was caught.

He's been evading them for all these years, though. Sorry, I like to play the devil's advocate.

One thing I would like to speculate about Jeong Jeong, does anybody else notice he is drawn to have more "japanese" look to him than any other character. I guess this is an interest to me since I am japanese. I'm notice other small little parallels that seem to point to the "fire nation" being symbolic of Japan.

Throughout my life, my mother would tell me small parts of Japanese history and how Japan had enslaved the asian region for almost 100 years; kinda like what the Fire Nation is trying to do with the world of Avatar right now. So is it befitting that the islands of the Fire Nation are symbolic of the island of Japan and its surrounding islands. Just look at any map of Japan and mirror it, looks just like the Fire Nation islands. And the fire nation people tend to have more of a japanese look with the Earth Nation having more of a chinese look.

And of course, China is the largest land mass of the orient, which by the way has a "wall" around it, and so is the Earth Nation.

Now getting back to Jeong Jeong, I find him to parallel the Aniu of Japan, which??by the way, is my japanese heritage. You can look up their history but they tend to stand out because of their deep roots in honor and their tendencies to devout their entire being to their martial arts and disciplines. Keep in mind, some would say that the Aniu were considered outcasts among Japan society.??

I might think I was reading more into the mirroring of the current orient and the lands in Avatar but I doubt it. It is not coincidence that most of the calligraphy and martial arts forms are based on what we would call "ancient ways" or in english terms "old school".

Hey, just a thought and nice little history lesson as well!

Cool! You know, he does really look kind of??Japanese, and that does make sense. I do get your theory on the??Fire Nation and Japan, and I think that is what they did. ??

If you think of the whole series and its premise, it is deeply rooted in asian history.?? A 100 year old war, a smaller nation ruling over large nations, a nation with a WALL around it, i.e. great wall of China.?? Outcasts in their own land, symbols of Aniu Japanese and Jeong Jeong and his followers.... I could go on and on...?? C'mon even the maps look alike, not location but shape.

The only thing that keeps me from digging more into the history books is I don't want to see anymore parallels before the season finale!??

I would definitely agree with the parelels of japan and china, but who would be the water tribes? I would think Siberians would be the most logical answer, and for airbenders? Some Steppe tribes were nomadic, but they didn't have upstanding beliefs in peace and balance, and didn't erect huge buildings like the airtemples.

I would say a mix between the buddhist monks and the Sherpas of the Himalayans. Chinese monks wore orange robes, and after they completed their training in martial arts, spent a year traveling around China. The Sherpas live in the mountains and I think move about with their settlements. It would make sense that they would, because of the snow, wind, and storms. And with the water tribes, I guess I would agree, but they seem more civilized than your standard Siberians, but they seem kind of like the 'pirates' that roamed about the coast on Chinese Junks.

For the Water Tribes, I'd say they're??based on the Inuit tribes.

Yeah, that's what I would say. It is a commonly known theory that Native Americans (especially ones in North America) crossed over the land bridge between Alaska and Russia during an ice age. The Inuit overall look similar to Asians, as do some other tribes of Native Americans. It would make sense that the Inuit are similar to the Water Tribes, because the Inuit ARE from Asia. Or, so it is said.

Yeah, but I would also say that mostly the Southern Water Tribe is more based off of the Inuit than the Northern Water Tribe.

Jeong Jeong seems the most likely candidate right now because Zuko and Iroh are tied up. Anyway, Jeong Jeong needs another appearance. It would be criminal not to conlcude his story and anyway, book three is Fire, so we should see more Firebenders.

Very interesting points that you have here PrimoNation.?? It is very possible that the creator did write this whole storyline based on the history that you have mentioned.??

Jeong Jeong has escaped and it might be that he is in Ba Sing Se as a refugee.?? After all Zuko and Iroh made it in easily.?? Why couldn't he make it in.?? Besides it might come out in the next season that he joins with Iroh.?? They both have much in common and both can teach Aang.?? Now that I think of it, maybe if Zuko helps Iroh and they com across Jeong Jeong then maybe he will help Zuko become a better firebender.

I don't know maybe he will order another person to teach Aang.
