Is it just me, or are the Avatar episodes you download from iTunes bigger now? I downloaded an episode some time ago, and when I watch it, it's??smaller than the size of the 30-second??previews in their store, including the preview for my episode.

I bought the first season all at once, and I bought the pass for second season after Return to Omashu first aired. I noticed that all the episodes through The Desert viewed normally at 320 pixels by 240 pixels. Secret of the Fire Nation is viewed normally at 640 pixels by 480 pixels. Not only were the dimensions doubled, but I only needed to download one file. I haven't had the opportunity to play back the whole Secret of the Fire Nation episode yet.

That's exactly what I mean, the dimensions are doubled. But it's not just for the Secret of the Fire Nation, because the 30-sec previews for all the other episodes are bigger too. I hope they let us upgrade already-bought videos to larger sizes.

I just found this from cnet.com:

In fact, as of September 12, all movies and TV shows have a general resolution of 640x480 (H.264). This includes TV shows that were available at the then-standard 320x240 just a few days ago. You will have to purchase a new version of the same file if you want to standardize your library--predictable, but too bad. Apple spokespeople likened the situation to upgrading to DVDs from VHS tapes, though in this case, the buying cycle is much shorter. So what happens if and when Apple decides to offer movies in DVD resolution (720x480) someday? Probably the same thing.

This is annoying...I should probably stop buying from iTunes since they update so much.
