With all that brainwashing thing we can't forget about the part when Katara tells them the animal is just a bear (not a platypus-bear, an armadillo bear, or whatever the hell else) and Toph just said: "this city is weird."

Yeah really weird, I guess the characters felt the same. Just for different reasons. They should start a Make Your Own Avatar-Animal Contest! That'd be awesome! Imagine all the insane combos!

there not hybrids they are chimeras, hybrids are of the same species that breeds with the a variation of the same species, chimeras are species??that are created when a species breeds with another genus, this can only occur in real life artificially

Uh, chimeras are a dragon-type of creature with deadly??venom and multiple heads. Hybrids are a cross between 2 species. But??I do understand what you were trying to say, i.e. playtpus-bears are the offspring of other platypus-bears, not one bear and one platypus.

For anyone who cares here's what is says about the bear on the Official Avatar Site.

    Bosco

The Earth King???s favorite pet, this rare "bear" was captured in the forests along the eastern coast of the Earth Kingdom. He is the only known member of his species, although the Earth King has commanded the top zoologists of Ba Sing Se University to lead a battalion of soldiers in scouring the earth to find Bosco a mate. Little is known about his habits in the wild, but Bosco seems to enjoy roaming the grounds of the Royal Palace with his master, and has developed quite a taste for cakes and pies.

I wonder how the cast of Avatar would act if they ever came to our world.

"Wierd... it's like all the animals in our world were somehow split in two..."

They would most likely be like that. Well then again the show was in a "lost age" so maybe it is Earth, just before the animals evolved into their own kinds.

Now that I think about it that map of the avatar world does kind of look like Pangaea, but the only creatures then were mammal like reptiles, proto-dinosaur and giant insects

Maybe I've just watched too much Top 5 on Cartoon Network, but isn't that the name of the bear in Evil con Carne?

You've been playing Warcraft III haven't you?

A chimera doesn't have to be a dragon-type. It just has to be a creature that is a mix of multiple animals. Non-dragon types would include gryphons, and manticores.
