why did ya just post that it was pointless! this thread it "isnt there a similarty between naruto and avatar" not "do u like naruto and why?" just accept the fact that there are people who like naruto and people who dont!
Think I already rubbed that one. Yeah, I used quotation marks and everything. ..Yeah.

Who are you calling tasteless? Culture... well, as far as culture goes, Avatar is the only nick show with any, IMO. It means a considerable amount to me. Rodney Dangerfeild? What does he have to do with anything-- he's foolish. As for the next spewage of crap, an actual plot. What parts of Naruto did you see, because there's all sorts of plots that are in there. There's the Chunin exam. The Zabuza arc. And ships baked in is just a part of life. How many 12 year olds have you met that don't have a crush on someone? I can count on one hand the number I know. Dragging conflicts with no soul... Are you telling me that the deep hatred Sasuke has for his brother is soulless? That his vengeful claim on his brother's head has nothing deep to it? And you contradicted yourself. No plots, then unresolvable ones? I don't see anyone who ever said that Naruto is their favorite show, it certainly isn't mine. However, this is just a matter of opinion.

He has the "Avatar Spirit" which is basically all the kick ass avatars rolled up into a nice easy to move package.

You should watch that episode, "Avatar State"

i mean, you probably have but a second time might clear that up for you.

Excuse me? Back down! Naruto is my 2nd favorite show!! (*coughs* my name?? Princess_Sasuke??? DUH??) Naruto has a lot of culture! I watch it on youtube.com in the Japanese, so I'm not only watching a rather hilarious show, but also learning Japanese!! w00t! And the worlds are made up, so they have their own culture!! It's good, give it a chance. (Sides, Sasuke is just like Zuko! Fire breathing, hating their prodigy siblings, living under doubt!)

First of all, I'm not defending Nickelodeon AT ALL. If you want to start a Nick bashing fest, tag me, I'll go in first. Second, I'm not really defending Avatar as the better show. I'm just saying that Naruto does NOT deserve all the praise it gets. And Rodney Dangerfield is something I threw out there to prove that you guys are young. I'm certain that any fan of Naruto doesn't know anything before 1990. I started Naruto at the beginning - as anyone giving a show a proper chance should - and got to the point where Naruto and the only decent ninja in training defeated the more powerful ninja by using a transformation-jitsu to turn Naruto into a large shuriken, releasing thier mentor and letting him do all of the work. After that, they got on a ship and the show promised me that it would eventually go somewhere. The only characters I liked were the teachers and the boy who could outninja Naruto 1000 times out of 15. The show is about a fox...turned into a useless boy in school. He's surrounded by better characters than he is and of what I saw, he isn't in any real danger. He's Harry Potter, stuck in Hogwarts, watched over by Albus Dumbledore and surrounded by things he can fall back on. I didn't like that as a starting point. The show should begin when he leaves the ninja school - or is forced to learn ninjitsu through one master, in the middle of something pressing. Not a school year. The conflicts that I saw were: Everyone hates Naruto. Cooler kid hates the man with the red eye. Little pink haired McUseless hates being useless, but is about as weak as Yahiko in the beginning of Kenshin. If the story was planning on going somewhere, it took too long. A decent writer can plan something that will catch you up before the third episode. A good writer can hook you fifteen minutes in. If I'm on episode 13 and I'm looking for a reason not to give everything back and give up on the series, it doesn't deserve my attention. I have given Naruto more than a chance and it actually held my attention longer than Bleach (which was like watching extreme paint drying in predictable ways). Okay, I'll give you that I contradicted myself. You can wrap that up and put it under your tree. I'm just generalizing on this. Naruto seems to have conflicts that will resolve only in the last episode. For instance, we'll probably never get to see the Ninetails released and Naruto will also never graduate and become a real ninja. He'll always be training and the story will recycle itself a million times before fading away to nothing.

In rebuttal, I say: Naruto failed my test. You can embrace it as whatever you want to, but it isn't going to win over anyone with a seriously critical eye and won't be remembered by you or anyone else in six years. So then, what is your favorite show Tessa-san?

By culture I mean having something tangible to keep with you; like a moral or something you'll remember all of your life, like the way the Imperial March made you shudder as a kid, the way you felt when Peter Pan first flew and your brought Tink to life by clapping, or something that enriches you in a way that justifies your veiwing in any way that isn't "I'm wasting time and feeling fun". TV and other medias are an (debatable, yes) art form. I judge them as such because they mean something. The shows that mean nothing are just when someone has painted a canvas turquoise and put it up next to a light blue matte. I'm going to be harsh on Naruto just as I was harsh on Avatar, harsh on Angel, harsh on The Facts of Life, harsh on M*A*S*H and harsh on Cheers. If you don't want me to be harsh on it, then have someone make a petition to get Naruto exempted as a form of media. I gave it a chance already. It only gets one. What's your favorite show?

Okay, and now for the big question: will anyone who isn't a japanese culture obsessed little girl come and defend Naruto?
I'm seeing a trend. Between Tessa-SAN and Princess_Sasuke who is learning Japanese through Naruto, I doubt there's more than little girl fans who just wanna see Sasuke bare his soul to the useless ninja girl with pink hair.

Yeah, so anyway in the QuickStrike system thinge that the Avatar trading card games uses, there are three types of advantage card thingies-?? Mind, Body, and Spirit.

Mind- "A character who has the Mind trait likes to plan before acting. Long-term strategy is important to a Mind character.... The other neat thing Mind has going for it is "messing" with Allies." So basically it focuses on strong mental capacity and trickery.??Kinda like Gen-

Body-??"A character who has the Body trait is focused on the physical nature of the world. Body can be a nice compliment if you want to add some gusto to your strikes....Body will also help to beef up your strikes under a variety of circumstances." Basically it involves??using internal energy to enhance physical attacks. Sounds a lot like Tai-.

Spirit- "A character who has the Spirit trait can call on hidden depths such as heart, gumption, toughness, and charisma to achieve his or her goals. Spirit encompasses a lot of different things, but the end result is the same: getting what YOU want. ...This trait does many different things, but does them for your benefit." It would seem that this is the most generic of the advantages and can come in a variety of forms. Almost like Nin-.

Huh, so do they really expect??anyone??to??really comprehend this any of this stuff? Card games, eh.??Cept maybe??Spades or somethin, I don't know.??

yup the more I watch /read the two, the more similarities I find. But rememver, they are both based off of old oriental culture and beliefs and principles, so of course they will be somewhat similar who knows maybe some avatar ideas were based off of naruto

*Gapes open mouthed* STFU!!!! OMFG!! You just love to argue with me, dont'ya!? My points on Naruto- Hate to break it to you, but you saw the lamest ark on Naruto! (The series runs on arks episodes while Avatar runs on Books episodes) The 'Kakashi vs. Zabuza and Land of the Hidden Mist' ark nearly put me to sleep. The entire time, Kakashi had like a million and one openings to kill Zabuza, but didn't because of useless gloating. Same with Naruto fighting Haku.

??I think you need to realize that that specific ark is like Book 1 of Avatar. The entire ark was introducing the characters. We find out how powerful Naruto's sensei, Kakashi Hatake, really is, and why he's famous and schtuff. It shows why Sasuke Uchiha, in your words, the popular boy, is the way he is, or sort of. It at least lets us know that the person he needs to kill isn't our 9-tailed friend! Truthfully, it doesn't explain the only girl member of team 7, Sakura Haruno, but it does in later arks, (WHICH KICK BUTT!) And, it shows the full extent of The Kyubbi (9-tails) power.

It shows what a true ninja really is. The ark that you stopped watching was the introduction to the story. You give up to easily. You missed the best arks! Like the Chunnin exams! And the Sasuke Retrival ark!!!

Most importantly, you missed my Gaara-sama, Sasuke-kun, Kiba-kun, Shikamaru-kun, and Neji-kun in action!

So then how far am I from watching a good episode? 15 episodes? 30? I'll extend my patience if you tell me how long they need to introduce something that could have been covered in 50 minutes of screen time.

Gladly, but first, you need to finnish watching the ark It's like not watching the first book of Avatar! You really just won't get it! Lemme see.....you were on the boat, getting to to Bridge Builders house.... -.-' Just a??bit farther......like......um.....10-15 episodes? (*nervous laugh*) But trust me, once you meet the Sand Gennin for the Chunin exams, its all worth it!
