This is what the creators of Avatar said about whether Avatar is or not in one of there interviews:
While Avatar is not considered an because of its primarily American style and writing, one review has commented that "Avatar blurs the line between and US domestic cartoons until it becomes irrelevant." In addition, Avatar has many features of such as having a different color palette than other animated shows. However, Avatar creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino confirmed a particular influence in a magazine interview:
???The best balances great action sequences with humor and emotion, something we try to do on Avatar. We love all the films of Hayao Miyazaki, especially Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. Both movies deal with spirituality and the environment in an entertaining way. Also, there???s a lot of great animation.???
So there you have it. It's not considered but it "blurs the line between and US domestic cartoons until it becomes irrelevant." I hope that this answered you question.
One question, how the heck did you get to level 9 with 69 posts?
I have reviews, i do blog entries, i contribute a lot more then what my profile says i do to guides.?? That is how i am at level 9 with only 62 posts.

Anyway, its drawn by Americans, but I read it was produced (can't think of the word) in Japan.
It is animated in Korea. Much like nearly all American cartoons.
It's called outsourcing. Most American cartoons from the 80's to more recent times are shipped off to Asia (whether it's Taiwan, Japan, South Korea or the Phillippines) to be animated because of cheap labor costs and the fact??that??it's just far too expensive to animate in the US. Japanese anime cartoons are often shipped off to South Korea to be animated but that doesn't mean they're no longer anime??or something like that. Same for American animation.??

Well yeah we know that. American animation is sort of making a comeback with the recent use of flash animation in shows. Also isn't Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends animated in the US?
