Avatar's creators are American, as some have said, but I believe most of the actual animation work??is done in South Korea. And a lot of the influences are Chinese. (Such as the writing, and I think the martial arts styles as well.)

I do think the show was at least somewhat inspired by anime, though. I've heard that the name Momo was based on the Japanese word for peach, though I'm not certain about that.

I think one of the reasons why Avatar is often called anime and is often compared to it is because Avatar is a non-comedy (though it does have funny moments, humor isn't the focus) animated show that isn't designed exclusively for children. And to be honest, I can't think of a single show like that currently on television??that isn't either anime or Avatar.

That's what I meant to say in my post. I just had heard this particular fact in a comment on Youtube, and that isn't exactly the most reliable source so I wasn't certain about it.

This is what the creators of Avatar said about whether Avatar is anime or not in one of there interviews:

??While Avatar is not considered an anime because of its primarily American style and writing, one review has commented that "Avatar blurs the line between anime and US domestic cartoons until it becomes irrelevant." In addition, Avatar has many features of anime such as having a different color palette than other animated shows.

However, Avatar creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino confirmed a particular anime influence in a magazine interview:

?????The best anime balances great action sequences with humor and emotion, something we try to do on Avatar. We love all the films of Hayao Miyazaki, especially Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. Both movies deal with spirituality and the environment in an entertaining way. Also, there???s a lot of great animation.???

So there you have it.?? It's not considered anime but it "blurs the line between anime and US domestic cartoons until it becomes irrelevant."?? I hope that this answered you question.

Reviews don't do that much for you after Level 6. I am level 9 and I have 56 reviews! Blogs help A LOT after getting Level 8. Anyway, its drawn by Americans, but I read it was produced (can't think of the word) in Japan.
