I'm only responding to the original question, 'cause the rest of this. . . is a bit much. When Aang went to see the oldest spirit Ko, in The Seige of the North Pt. 1, Ko revealed that he had stolen the face of the Avatar's past life; the Avatar had tried to kill Ko for stealing the face of the Avatar's love. Ko then shows the face of a woman, obviously the past Avatar's love, trying to goad some emotion from Aang (or Aang's past life) so he could steal Aang's face. If the past Avatar could go to the spirit world to fight the facestealer over his lost love, then this probably means that the Avatar is allowed to love, however distantly, and get married. I think the final chakra is a way to make smarter decisions for the world, and not just one person's benefit.

And maybe, just maybe... the other spirits send Koh to steal the woman's face knowing that she would bring weakness to the Avatar.?? I know it sounds cruel, but unfortunately, that is what love is... it puts a weakness upon an individual.?? An Avatar that would have a love, family, etc... would be opening themselves up to being used by?? somebody willing to manipulate the Avatar's family for their own personal gain.?? Think about the power that a crazy man would have by simply kidnapping the loved ones... it would give them a leverage over the most powerful person on the planet.??

The closest we've seen to any Avatar having a family is the face that Koh stole from someone an Avatar loved. Perhaps being able to let go of physical connections has to do with protecting the Avatar. The Avatar in the past wasn't able to let go of his loved one and got his face stolen (is that fatal?). We saw how Aang's physical connections caused him to lose control several times in the show forcing him into the Avatar State. That's a weakness that perhaps the Avatar can't afford to have ya feel me?

It's a matter of balance: yin and yang, love and grief,??material and energy. It's important to accept the transient nature of most things and know that things lost may return, perhaps in a different form.

Yes, I agree with you completely.

Here's the thing. I'm not saying that the Avatar CAN'T have a marriage. He is a human, after all. I'm saying that I think he will choose not to. Simply because of the consequences.

P.S. No, I don't think face stealing is fatal, Eman. Remember the monkey? It was still alive, just with no face... Which is weird. How was it breathing?! O_o

I think the avatars are born to master all the 4 elements and keep the world save and not love, and I also think that the avatars must finish reliying on the past and live for the future of keeping balance to the world.

If an avatar lives a life of solitude, it's probably due to the avatar's difficulty in reconciling a family life with a life of service, but it isn't impossible. Think of the people today who work outside the home for an income but are still active at home. So, it is the avatar's choice. Choose well!
