Well, Wan Shi Tong just gathers knowledge. He doesn't control it.

Precisely. So I doubt the knowledge would be unattainable if he died. But who knows????

How would knowledge disappear? Would everyone just go retarded or would the world enter a dark age? If someone killed Wan Shi Tong nothing would happen other then either the library still being there or maybe disappearing.

If he dies maybe all the books would only have blank pages. KInda like the movie "Pleasant ville"(with tobey maguire) but in reverse. When spidey told the town folk about information that he knew the books that were once blank began to fill up. If the knowledge spirit died, maybe the info would dissapear.

Ah, that's right. If he died, the world wouldn't change, but civilization would fall apart as all sentient creatures instantly forgot everything they had ever learned (including thier precious bending arts) and returned to savagry. That's why the Spirit is hidden...and too powerful to kill.

Remember he left the world and civilization did not fall. All he did was keep info stored for people to read and use.

Unlike the Moon Spirit and the Ocean Spirit, the Knowledge Spirit did not give up its immortality, so, presumably, no mortal could kill it. That old avatar who tried to slay the Face Stealer should have realized that as well.

Well the Knowledge Spirit could have immortality, but even if you killed it, it would be something like killing a librarian. Just because you kill the owner of a library doesn???t mean the books disappear.

Or it could be that he is knowledge personafied, and that when he dies he sucks up all the knowledge in a jumanji-esque vortex.

According to Avatar mythology, when the incarnated mortal form of an element or object spirit is destroyed, it takes with it the form it embodies. However, the Knowledge Spirit is still of yet immortal and closed off to all humanity. There is no way to kill it, unless it opts to die.

You can't kill Wan Thi Shong, he did give up his spirit form like the Moon and Ocean spirits did.
