I'm personally am against spin offs, they always are bad, and tend to detroy the reputation of the original show. I have yet to see a great spin off from a great show. |
If done right... spin-offs can be GREAT!?? Take Happy Days - 2 great shows that came from that were Mork & Mindy and Laverne & Shirley; how about the??Fraiser from Cheers, the Simpsons from??The Tracy Ullman Show; Xena from Hercules.?? Numerous cartoons were spin-offs from the original Hanna-Barbera Cartoon family: Tom & Jerry, Huckelberry Hound, Yogi Bear, etc...???? And Disney makes a living off of spin-offs.?? Tales Spin was a play of characters found in "The Jungle Book".?? House of Mouse, Ducktales, etc....
Granted not many of those above are cartoons, but it shows spin-offs can be successful... its a matter of staying true to character AND using the same producing/creative/writing team.?? That is probably why??Disney & Hanna-Barbera are successful in creating spin-offs, because they keep the original??storyline and production teams intact.?? No??one can produce a spin-off that has no heart in??the actual character better than??the original team.

true about the good writers, although spin-offs almost always ruin the original story or are just plain stupid, thats why if there ever is a spin-off of Avatar it should be by the same creators, which is probably very unlikely |
