How did Sokka know Mai's name?

    I know this is not really important, but I am processive person who notices little things, and I am curious, in the Boiling Rock, Zuko mentions the name of his girlfriend he had to leave behind named Mai, and Sokka said "You mean the gloomy girl who sighs a lot?"

    How did he knew the gloomy girl who sighs a lot, the one that surrended Bosco without a fight, the knife throwing girl, how did he knew her name was Mai. I don't think her name was ever mentioned in front of the gAang.

    They knew Ty Lee's name in The Drill because Mai spoke her name in front of Sokka and Katara in The Chase, but I don't recalle Mai's name ever being mention in the gAang's presence. I guess Sokka and Toph ease dropped on Mai and Ty Lee conversation in the Earth King thrown room before they rescued Bosco, and Mai's name came up in that conversation.

    Though sometimes the gAang aren't that processive in picking up names. Mai did mention Azula's name and her position of power in Return To Omashu in front of the gAang, yet Azula had to introduce herself to Aang in The Chase.

    I'm way too lazy to try and remember a time when they said Mai's name in front of the gAang, but Sokka was guessing, you've got to remember. He wasn't sure. But I'm pretty sure somehow they must've heard it. Didn't they? *gets aggravated*

    He may have picked up her name sometime we're forgetting about where they had dialogue during a fight, or he simply made a logical guess. He could choose between Ty Lee or Mai as the most predictable answers, because they would predictably be the people he hanged around after he went back to the Fire Nation.

    Off all of the girls in the Fire Nation, the chances that Zuko's girlfriend is gloomy girl that works with Azula are a long shot.

    Possibly Zuko told Sokka after the whole "my girlfriend turned into the moon" dialogue scene..off-screen event?

    Yeah I remember, her mother said her name, but I think Aang was the only one within ear shot to hear that. And maybe when they had that exchange for Tom Tom, I do remember Azula name and her position of princess being mentioned to them in that scene.

    But it is clear they didn't learn their names at all in Return To Omashu, because they don't know their names in The Chase.

    Easy. Katara knew Ty Lee's name in The Drill. So it's a simple matter of process of elimination. The gaang knew that Azula has two cronies. So there.

    Yeah except who said cronie number two is Zuko's girlfriend? Who said Zuko is involved with any of Azula's friends, there are a lot of girls in the Fire Nation, besides Azula and her two henchgirls.

    Good point. I guess this was one of the things that was just supposed to be a given in the show. It's most likely they just looked over it while they were writing the show.
