How was Azula able to lightning bend while insane if she had to have a clear mind to do so?

How did Azula and Ozai "flying" not incinerate everything underneath them, due to the fact that substaining flight would require massive amounts of fire as propulsion?

How did Katara and Azula blink while frozen? They're frozen. They can't blink.

Is it just me, or has lightning as an attack gotten slower? I mean, when Azula first demonstrates it with Lo and Li, it jets directly across the ship as an immediate blast of energy, with only an extremely tiny window of opportunity to move. In the finale, Zuko jumped several feet and redirected it.

You'll notice Azula's lightning was a lot more... erratic in the finale (which ties into your fourth question). It's probably just luck she didn't end up blowing herself up while doing it.

It's a cartoon show and certian elements may not track perfectly with real-life physics.

Obviously they weren't completely frozen, or else Katara wouldn't have been able to bend the ice.
