Hello, if you are reading this then you probably have already found out the devistating new about Zutara. It died...

But seriously, after he ended up back with Mai I was so done with this series. I mean, ok, so the hero doesn't get the girl, but so what!? Zuko was more of a choice for Katara. Did you see how those two fought together, and they would have had some cute babies. Aang doesn't need a girlfriend since the line of avatar does not pass down by children!

This thread will probly be shortlived cuz very few of us Zutarians really want to admit the fight is over.

Let me say this; Zutara was always an imaginary idea. It was born with NOTHING, whilst Kataang was born with EVERYTHING! Nevertheless, this sad, mishapen idea was so appealing to so many people, that despite it's inherited disadvantages, it still rose to claim nearly half of the entire ATLA fanbase to it's ideals. Kataang won mostly because it was never a fair fight(how do you combat the almighty Bryke?). But then again, Zutara has one advantage that Kataang could never have, and that advantage is also it's weakness- the fact that it is imaginary.

No matter who won in reality, Zutara can NEVER be truly defeated because it is a ship of the imagination, of the mind!

If Zutara had happened, Kataang would be dead forever. But although Kataang won, Zutarians everywhere can still root for thier imaginary ship, because that's all we ever really did- root for an imaginary ship.

In a way, Zutara is more eternal and immortal of an idea than Kataang will ever be, and so I ask you: who REALLY won in the end???

I'm glad that Zuko and Katara were able to work through their differences and took Azula down together but lets face it, there was never any romantic feelings itended.

To me, it was quite probable and even obvious that the series would end in Kataang. I shipped Zutara because I thought they both would look great together and would make an excellent couple, not necessarily because I thought they'd end up together in the series. It makes no difference if the story decides to go in a different direction. To me, a ship is ultimately the idea of two characters being together. And ideas never die :3

I didn't ship Zutara because I knew it would never happen, like everyone else who didn't ship Zutara (I mean, come on, Zutara had NOTHING! As you pointed out). So I was actually starting to respect Zutarians because of your post...until that last part

I knew Zutara was not gonna happen since like the beginning. And I only ship it cause in my opinion they look good together, and I kinda like the opposites attract thing too. But i was'nt really that mad. We all knew it was not gonna happen. Just face it. Im OK with Kataang cause its meant to be but I just can't stand Maiko. Zuko could of at least ended up with someone that is not from the fire nation. I woulda been fine with that

I don't know, I think Maikos cute to an extent- they are personality-wise good for eachother(hot headed vs. calm), but, to me personally, Mai is kind of annoying without Zuko. Zuko helped her express emotions and be herself, which is really cute.

i would have though that now that kataang won, you could get over yourselves and admit that straight through to the end the setup would have worked perfectly for zutara. just because it didn't happen, doesn't mean the potential wasn't there all along. especially after he took a bullet for her.

Agreed. I didn't become a Zutarian because I saw other people were shipping that way. I had this moment (a light blub really) were I just knew I wanted them to end up together. I dont know how else to explain it... but I knew that it was what I felt should have happened.

Which is way I agree that the potential was always there, and its not like Bryke didn't feed the potential and the hope with their cave scenes and their little play. We were given hope all the way until the end that there was a possiblity for Zutara to happen.

That said, I personally had mentally prepared myself to handle any possible out come in a calm and rational way. Which is why although I hate the fact that they didn't end up together at this point in time, has done nothing to diminish my hope. I mean Zutaria was built on the foundation of hope, and thats why I will alway hope deep in my heart that this wont be the last we see if Zutara, I will always hope for a continuation series in which Zutara has the possiblity to live itself out to the fullest.
