I believe she would just telling them that to give him the freedom to live life without question, but in the end her predictions have been true, and in her prediction of Aangs future, love wasn't in it. |

Just because she didn't see love, doesn't mean its not there. Clearly, she was sort of already proven wrong by what Aang says. He says he loves Katara. So love was already in his past present and future. Love is love, and he loves Katara. And Katara knew what he was going to say in the Earth King and she kissed him on the cheek. So she in a way is howing she also has feelings for him. And she never said that love wasn't in his future, just that she "didn't see anthing". And of course the whole "being able to shape his own destiny" thing too.

I totally agree with you.
I don't see why the Avatar shouldn't be allowed to have a lover. I mean, even if Aang wasn't aloud a romantic relationship, and he DID know about it, it wouldn't matter! He'd still fall in love eventually! You can't help who you fall in love with, and that makes it all the more painful.

It could be argued easily that when she said love in the future she was talking about love that was returned...Katara doesn't feel the same way Aang does that's rather clear. The fact is Aunt Wu saw Katara married to someone and she saw Aang with no one...That's fairly cut and dry.
And yes when she said he could shape his own destiny I do believe she said that so he wouldn't be sad.

This brings me back to the Guru. Aang can shape his destiny by either mastering the Avatar State or not. That could DEFINITELY change his destiny!

You just don't get it do you? Fate can't be cheated. Look at the Aunt Wu episode no matter what anyone did to change her predictions or prove them false in the end the ended up coming true. What ever Aang chooses to do was already seen by Aunt Wu because his choice affected him not having love in the future. Whatever happens was meant to happen in order to lead the the vision Wu saw.

I DO get it, but Aang knows that if he doesn't master the AS he will NEVER be able to enter it again (at least, not until he's reborn). He may not know what will happen if he stays there and learns it, but he does know what will happen if he doesn't. He still has the free will to determine which road he decides to take. The same with Zuko. Their decisions will determine what they do for the rest of their lives. The question is, which one WILL they choose?
I don't believe in that "fate is unchangable" crap, BTW. I just think that's an excuse someone uses to get out of doing something they don't want to do or believe they can't do.

So, you just basically said killing Katara would destroy any chance of him getting married and having kids. All that does is destroy Katara's "fate" of marrying a powerful bender and having kids. Aang still has to defeat the Fire Lord and put the world back into its proper balance.
