Avatar: The Last Airbender Forums

Nickelodeon (ended 2008)

Does she know?

Does Ursa know that Ozai taught Zuko a permanent lesson on his face?

I have been browsing the forums for months now. ^^ I don't recall seeing such a thread. But if this is a repeat, I'm sorry.

I have found myself pondering about Ursa every single time I think of Avatar. I have come up with some wild things about her. But I keep coming back to a simple question that will probably have a huge effect if she's alive and doesn't know.

Does she know that her son was scarred and banished like she was?

At one point, I cannot see it. I personally think she is dead. But if she is alive, I would think that if she knew her child was banished, she would do all she could to find him and be with him again.

At another, I can. If she's alive, she may have been too scared to go find her son and comfort him. Though she may have send messages from Iroh to keep tabs on her son.

So what do you think? Does she know, or doesn't she?

I sure she does it know since she hasn't been around. Unless she has been secretly around.

If she does find out, then I have a feeling that Ozai will learn the meaning of 'hell hath no fury like a woman scorned'

That's another something I wondered. Has she been around secretly?

Though it seems most people don't know why Zuko was burned. The Fire Nation soldiers on his ship did not know. But the old man in Zuko Alone said something to the effect of "His own father burned and disowned him!" It's a big, confusing thing for me.

And I would love to see her show Ozai what for! Another question though: is she a bender? I would imagine Ozai would only want to marry a bender. Though we've never seen Mai or Ty Lee bend.

Of course, even not being a bender, she'd still show him what for.

Maybe she is under the protection of the Lotus Society (spelled right?)

Yeah it is confusing everyone said they thought it was an accident but there are many people in the Agni Kai they probably said that out of respect or only nobility knew about it n it was not tell in the fn but somehow made it's way to the ek where it became some short of joke or propaganda bou the brutality of fn

I would think the White Lotus group would keep her safe. I don't think many people know about them. It would be the best place to hide her.

Right, one of the soldiers says he thought it was an accident. Azula and Zhao were there, and I would imagine that, if the story got out and isn't just one of those rumors that happens to be true, it would be the two of them to say it. I doubt Ozai would make a public announcement saying he burned his son. He may have made it clear that Prince Zuko is nothing to him but I'm not sure he'd say why he disowned his bad seed.

People don't find out about a lot of stuff. I think there was Japanese solider who thought World War II was still going on in the 1970's.

No. Though I did not know Frank Sinatra was dead until I saw a question about him on a gameshow.

I think she doesn't know that Zuko was scared and banished. I also think she may be alive. My opinion is that she is not a bender, she doesn't look like a bender to me. The firelord would want his wife to be under his control, so he would have picked a non-bender thinking that a firebender could become powerful.

No, you're right. She certainly doesn't look like I bender. And you do make a good point, that Ozai would want to have that over her head. I thought she'd be a bender. Kind of assumed he'd feel like he was marrying below himself to marry a non-bender. But you make sense.

Gasp! The Southern Raiders isn't just about Sokka and Katara's Mom, it's also about Zuko's Mom! And Chitzang knows where she is! \

I'm guessing we'll find out about her in The Southern Raiders. I also want to guess that that's why they've found June, to see if she can find either Iroh or Ursa.
