You never see the guy really fight. He always seems to be holding back or not breaking a sweat. In the last episdoe, he doesnt even fight until he's beaten. He resigns himself. He has shown himself to be an extremely talented and skillful firebender. Now he needs to pwn some people. I want pwnage!

its called a tactic showing your full power is never wise and you only use it when you cannot do else, its excatly what i will do i never show full power unless i am forced to do it when my life depends on it (iroh's life was never in danger)

part of being a master of anything, is knowing economy of energy and motion.

you give what is needed, no wasted energy or time.

...Unless he's too old to "let loose".

Iroh: "I'm going to show you the full extent of my power!!"

*Azula and Ozai step back in surprise to see Iroh surrounded by a sea of flames.*

Iroh: "AAARRGGHH--" *lets loose a really loud farting noise*

*A mushroom cloud can be seen from space.*

Eh, too "CartoonNetwork/every other Nicktoon on Nickelodean-y" but the point behind it is true, he's like 60 or somethin. Pardon the use of "like." Anywho, as for the topic, in terms of going against his established character trait just for the sake of going against his established character traits and/or just cause it might look cool or whatever, yeah no.

    Bad joke....
    Anyways,
Iroh holding his power back seems appropriate. If one abuses his/her power too much, they will become cruel and will think less of others.

*cough* Like I was going for an emmy with that writing...

I just can't see Iroh showing greater power because I don't think his body can handle the stress, anymore. His "vast ocean" of chi will probably rip through him if he doesn't have the strength to control it.

It's always the old ones that are the strongest and WISEST.

Body not handling stress, blah blah, I don't believe it.?? IF he didn't have the strength, we wouldn't see what he has done so far without gonig full power.

He's never NEED to use it. He might be old and kind, but he is one brilliant guy.

I like how it is now, always wondering what the strong guy is gonna do next. We just learn he breathes fire. Who knows what else he can do.

We saw a lot of his power in Siege of the North when he attacked Zhoa for killing the moon. He took out a bunch of firebending soldiers and made Zhoa run away scared. I don't think it was his full power but I do think we will see it next season.

dont u guys remember him saying in the crossroads of destiny "perfection and power are overrated" he should know. he has power and was in search of perfection while he was still in the fire nation army i think, then he lost his son and his entire outlook on life changed overnite, but for the better i think.

Iroh doesn't need to do any more than what he's done(does that make sense?).??The only person who needs to stop holding back is Aang. Unlike Iroh, Aang has many many people trying to kill/capture him. It's gonna come to the point where if Aang is to surivive he can't stay with the Airbender "harm no living thing" mantra, or at the very least become more strategic in his battles, that season finale battle would have gone the other way if Aang went down into the ground instead of floating up like that.
