Of course he would have cared! The fate of the world hinged on the death (or simply defeat) of his father. OK joke time is over. It honestly depends on how loosely you use the word "cared". If his father had been killed after all, would he have felt a bit sad? Regretful (losing his actual father)? Callously indifferent? Zuko always wanted his father to love and accept him pre-DOBS as confirmed in said episode. But once he finally realized that the "love" and "acceptance" he was looking for wasn't to be found in his relationship with his father, as well deciding that he has to do the right thing and his father is in the way of that, he lost that drive. He even said that his uncle was more of a real father to him showing that he now saw Iroh as his father figure. I will say that Zuko will have cared in the sense that he was losing his actual father but I don't believe he would have been shedding any tears over hit. Even though the redeemed Zuko entitled him to throwing away his anger and hatreds (I think so :p), he still bears a big grudge against his father. That's not to say that would make him jump into the air shouting, "YIPPEE!! HE'S FINALLY DEAD!!" or anything, rather, relief and happiness that the fire lord and subsequently the war had ended but a little grief over the knowledge that his actual father, and their relationship as dysfunctional as it was, had to end in such a way. [/deposits 2 cents]

*pictures Zuko jumping in the air with a big grin on his face shouting YIPPE HE'S FINALLY DEAD*

    lol

Okay I voted 'nope', but then I remembered when Zuko confronted Ozai during the eclipse. He had the swords, but he didn't want to kill Ozai himself. Sure he said, "it's the avatar's destiny" to kill him, or whatever, but seriously, does that make much sense?
We make our own destiny in this world. It's not someting that is predestined to happen!
I think Zuko was just using asian nonsense to justify his dread of killing his own father.
So, I think he actually DOES have feeling for his daddy, just that he knows Aang has to kill him to end the war.

In THIS world we make our own destiny. Not in the Avatar world Zuko didn't just use that as an excuse not to kill his father. I think he would've if Iroh hadn't gotten to him about destiny.

I don't think Zuko was talking about destiny so much as he was referring to what Iroh confirmed in "The Old Masters"; only the Avatar can defeat the Firelord in the right way to end the war.

In the very end he didn't really kill Ozai but I think Zuko really didnt care that much about what would happen to him
