    Actually it was more like the classic utopia/dystopia novels like Brave New World, if you want this to be like communist then it is like Animal Farm or 1984 both by Orsen Wells.

    Yes... but they do not hypnotize the soliders, plus communism is about everything having a fixed price, but here the government is very "free will".

    well, yea, its one huge conspiracy, like the being of the deltora quest books; people of royalty knew nothing of what was going on outside and see illusions on how its all peaceful. but outside of the royal like places, its filled with poverty and choas.

    and i though in communism, they also brain-wash people.

    It's more like subversion and propaganda because they're not controlling the economy (completely) they're just preventing any information from reaching the populace because they think that if they just stay inside the walls they'll allways be safe and any thought otherwise just make the people unclam. Like though policing in 1984.

    I'm kinda hoping that war balloon comes in soon to tell them, nope, keep fightin' or die.

    I don't think there is a king in Ba Sing Se I think its a board of intelligent nobles using the king as a disguise to control the public thinking

    Communism is about the redistirbution of wealth and making everyone equal.?? This situation is more fascist than communist.?? These people are trying to maintain the status qou and keep people from learning of what is going on outside the walls of the city.?? Vietnam wasn't communist neither was the Soviet Union they were Socialist regimines.?? There has never been a true communist society as invisioned by Marx, just as there is no such thing as a completly Capatalist society they just don't work.

    It's not technically a communist system.?? Communism is a system in which the state has direct regulatory powers over virtually everything within the nation's borders.?? In the case of Ba Sing Se,??it's more of a fascism where absolutist laws are made just to spare everyone's feelings.?? Even with Aang's VIP status, meeting a king who is nothing more than a figure-head might not help them very much.?? And what of Jet??? Are his friends just gonna stand by and let him get brain-washed??? Yes, that is a brain-washing technique that they were using on him.
