Yes we all know that Toph prefers to be barefoot (like most of the Earthbenders) but the question is Could she if she had to (like say at the north pole?) We know it can be done??as Long Feng bends with shoes on. (we even saw one of them hit the ground after he was blasted off lake laogai's shore.) so Toph should be able to and with practice should be able to "see" with them (how much interference can an eith of an inch of wood or cloth make? ????

I suppose she could make shoes from bendable materials ahead of time.

Long Feng and the rest of the Dai Li have stone boots on their feet (like the stone gloves they have on their hands). This is why they were able to hang from the celing and climb up walls in "Lake Laogai."

She would need shoes that would still allow her to pick up the vibrations which is possible.?? "Earth shoes"?

??Nah, I don't think she could bend with shoes, she needs her feet to feel the vibrations on the ground, shoes would just be something that could mess up the timing if thise vibrations.

She could probable bend, but it would be like she was when she was in the desert. Not able to "see" well, thus helpless.

If the shoes are made of a bendable material, I suspect she could detect the vibrations on the ground with respect to the vibrations coming from her shoes.

Is this asking if she can earthbend with shoes on or if she can see with shoes on? We've seen people earthbend in sandals, I think. Toph isn't always allowed to run around barefoot. At home her parents didn't know of her abilities and dressed her properly, so I would say she's used to wearing shoes, but loves being barefoot.

Being barefoot is bettere for sensing the vibrations.
That's the only reason Toph goes barefoot.

I think being barefoot is great for earthbending, but Aang earthbend in his shoes.

And Kyoshi had shoes (boots) as well, and she was an earthbender.

So I suppose maybe it depends on how good an earthbender you are?
