my first episodes were zuko alone and crossroads of destiny. started watching back when nick actually aired the show. anyway, those were enough to get me hooked. here's some of my suggestions:

the storm, blue spirit, siege of the north, the blind bandit, the chase, and the drill. anything after that, he'd be asking too much questions about the plot. out of those, i'd highly recommend the serpants pass/the drill.

and dont start with boy in the iceberg. i (still) find it nauseating and if i wouldve started with that, i wouldve dismissed it as an immature, kids cartoon (with really good animation). thank the gods i didnt though.

It depends on what they look for in a show.

If you want action, the Blind Bandit and Blue Spirit.

If you want shipping, then the Fortuneteller and Cave of Two Lovers.

If you want brilliant writing, then IMHO Imprisoned and The Storm were amazing.

If you want all of them mixed together in a blend of sheer awesomeness, then Siege of the North parts 1/2.

If you're trying to get a guy hooked on avatar, make sure you show him The Beach first.

Well I know the episode that made me want to see more was The Blue Spirit. But definitely make sure they see SotN and The Blind Bandit also.

On an off note, have them check out the Abridged Series as well.

Have him watch the Siege of the North (parts one and two). It's one of my favorites, plus he will want to learn more about the characters (thus opening the door for you to show more season one episodes).

I got my friends hooked on the first two episodes. My other friend who didn't see those also enjoyed the headband.

All my guy friends seem to like the Blue Spirit though, but he should know who Zuko is before watching that one. So, maybe the Storm and the Blue Spirit are good. And so is the Blind Bandit, but I do like...(ok, I'm done I promise.)

A few recommendations, DON'T start with an episode that has a big plot twist like "The Blue Spirit", and it definetly should be a season 1 episode. I recommend "The Deserter".
