Iroh is smarter, though it is debatable who is stronger, Azula fought great last night. I say she is stronger

Azula is awesome, nothing else to it.

Some people are naturally good at things.

iroh is probably stronger than azula. but someone wise like iroh prob thinks strength is an inner spirit, not physical, while azula prob thinks strength is everything. i mean if you watch any show, the guy with the biggest muscles never win, its the smaller wiser person that wins. so iroh most likely thinks blue fire is useless

My personal theory on it was that blue fire was a matter of mind set, rather then skill or power. It was somewhat said by Iroh that making lightning required a different state of mind, maybe blue fire is only possible for the cold blooded evil perfectionist type?

Maybe Iroh could bend blue fire but can't anymore in his old age. You know, Iroh has rarely ever fought. He fought in "Winter Solstice 1: The Spirit World", "The Siege of the North Pole Part 2", "The Avatar State", and he bended in "Bitter Work". Maybe Iroh can bend blue fire but simply hasn't. He needs a good fight scene.

All things considered, maybe Iroh doesn't need to bend blue fire or lightning. He's strong enough that he can be people without resorting to those methods. He's bended lightning 3 times now, once in The Storm to redirect the lightning that was going to hit the ship, in The Avatar State to redirect Azula's, and in Bitter Work to show Zuko. And??blue fire isn't going to accomplish anything that regular fire can't do.

Is it just me or is the blue fire always more compact.?? The Red fire always spreads out very far, creating projectiles and full body sheilds, while the blue fire is always in very small quantities of highly powerful fire, either solely around Azula's hand, or in a very small, tennisball sized projectile.?? The Red fire is long range defensive fire, the blue fire is high power offensive fire.

It's probably related more to the skill of the user. Since fire naturally wants to spread, being able to keep a tight leash on it may indicate a higher level of skill.

Besides, it's not as if Azula has never use a large flame. In The Chase, she made a huge one to keep Aang from flying away.

I'd agree with the mindset thing. Iroh said something about fire was fueled by emotion, but lightning/blue fire was the opposite. He didn't say lightening was the "cold-blooded fire" for nothing.

Iroh is a happy-go-lucky fat man, he could never do it, He simply is to nice and lovable. He is not like a certain evil reptilian creature that has to sleep between to young girls to stay warm at night.

blue fire... check out the candle man or a tourch blower. blue is obviusly hotter in small quantity and tightly packed as said by 76ersBOY. it is deadly hot and burns anything easily then cools down then turns to red and spreads out.

Power in firebending comes from the breathe...Azula has NEVER lost her breathing like Zuko has...she's masterd her breathing, which gives her more power, but for someone old like Iroh that probably takes too much energy so he doesn't use it...he has the experience edge and also...his lightning should be proof enough how strong he is...

    look here Iroh's lightning...

see the dots? the big one's Iroh...

    Now look at Azula's lightning...

    i rest my case...
