I was sitting in my History class, and we were talking about Liberalism, Nationalism, Conservatism, the like.?? We got to talking about Reactionary beliefs.?? My teacher told us about how, in the 19th century, Reactionaries wanted things to go back to "how they used to be."?? Class divisions were very important, the structure of society, censorship was good, so the people could be controlled.?? They also believed in absolute monarchies (king having all the power, herediatary ruling).?? Also, in Russia, by rule of...Nicholas I, I believe, he had spies he was so paranoid.?? I was taking notes, and I thought of Ba Sing Se.?? (Note, this is in the 19th Century, no one be offended)

    Think about it:

Class Division- The 3 Rings of Ba Sing Se- Lower, Middle, Upper

Censorship- There is no war in BA SING SE!

Nicholas I's spies- The Dai Lee

Absolute Monarchy- The Earth King, (despite being controlled by Long Feng)

Yeah...so...now you can say you learned something from TV! ^_^

Avatar is based on Chinese culture, but the plot of "City of Walls and Secrets" was eerily similar to George Orwell's novel of 1984. I can understand where you would draw the parallels. History often repeats itself, and Russie is just above China.
