Okay, so we all know the avatar timeline is f'd up.

For example, how could Roku's son (pictured here) be in his 20's when Roku died his daughter Ursa was around her mid-to-late 30's over a hundred years later?

For one side of the argument, let's say Ursa was about 40 when Aang was found by Katara and Roku's son was 20 when Roku died. Now, at the time Aang was frozen, Roku's son would be 32, which means, if Ursa was 40 when Aang was found, Roku's son would be around the age of 90 when he conceived her. :|

On Sozin's side, we have Sozin being about 65 to 70 around the time of Roku's death. It's possible he lived to the age of 100, which would be about 23 to 18 years after the war started. For the sake of Avatar's integrity, lets say it was 23 (I know this likely isn't Sozin's age. This is just my best guess based on a vague memory of maths after the canon destroyer that was Escape From the Spirit World). Now, Sozin's son Azulon could possibly (very unlikely, but possibly) have been born during that time. Let's say he was born 3 years after the start of the war. (:|, I know, but what can you do?) This would leave him at 20 when he became Fire Lord. Now, fast forward to the time of Azulon's death, around 70 years later. This would leave Azulon at 90, and with Ozai being 40 at best, Azulon BIRTHED him at the age of 50. More likely then Roku's son, but still quite odd. And I've heard the Nickelodeon website (Not that I'd tread there myself) says Azulon only ruled for 40 years. So what happened to the other 30?

It's weird thinking how easily this could have been avoided had another generation been added at some point...

Or why Zuko had hair when he was banished, but a week later, he was bald?

lol It does look like I said that on closer examination, but I meant that she was Roku's son's daughter.

Well, we don't know when Ursa was born. How do you know she wasn't like an "Ok we have 3 teenagers, no more kids...oops...ok one more" type of birth.

But, even if she were 50 when she left, Roku's son would be 80 at the time of conception...

I JUST WANT SOME DISCUSSION OF AVATAR ON HERE. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?

But, srsly, I think some actual plot discussions could do us some good.

You could say that. GOHINWT really was a genius character, although he isnt often considered to be by the masses. His complexities know no bounds, as even Zuko and Azula fall prey to character simplification at times whereas he is complex all the times. And it does help that he's got a hot bod.

Well I thought of it as symbolism of sorts. He's never focusing on the past. He needs to focus on the future, and anything from the past will distract him from doing that. Always looking forward, if you will.

well, I guess I have to bump the thread I created long ago

and remember that there has not been any indication that the one you say is the son is in fact the son, it might be the one on her right(or daughter, not sure of gender of that one) or someone who was not more than 10 years old

you speculating that the one on the left of Ta Min is her son

and Roku died at 58 years old in age, and as sozin and roku were born same day, than Sozin was 58 also at time of roku's death

Well, even if Ursa's parent on Roku's side was a baby during the eruption, he would still have been 62 if she were about 43 when she left.
Which is possible, I guess. Annoying retcon, but possible.
