By well-written, I mean novel quality or at least close to it. For examples of the kind of quality I'm looking for, check out my most recent Blog entry.

There's one I rather like. It's not mine, but it's good. It's called A Tangled Web. |

Roses of the Valley This is an extremely good story. Hardly any of the original Avatar cast are here, it takes place at th height of Avatar Azulon's power, meaning the characters are OC's but the story's flow and spirit more than make up for that. The characters are developed and unique, action scenes are detailed and well-drawn out. The premise is that a group of Fire Nation nobles tried to secretly make peace with the Earth Kingdom but were discovered by Fire Lord Azulon and were either banished or executed. The story follows the struggles of the banished nobles, and how the war impacts their new lives and how they effect others. |

Go to fanfiction.net. There's one called "A Koi called Bird" by FyreFlower, where the Blue Spirit rescues a young abused girl from Zhao while searching for news of Aang. Zuko takes the girl in and falls for her. I know it sounds like a bad Mary Sue story but its not, its very well wirtten. Its rated M. There are two called "The Hunter and the Prey" and "Love Thy Enemy" by RedNovember. Both are Zutaras which I normally hate, but these two are absolutely magnificent. They leave the original storyline but are absolutely amazing. You don't have to like Zutara to enjoy these stories. Warning, the ending of the first story is incredibly sad. There are two called "Chapter One Water" and "Chapter Two Earth" by Musical Maiden, which feature a female in place of Aang called Artymis (not a typo). The story is very good but isn't exactly well written. "Just the Girl", which features Toph joining up with Zuko and Iroh and she teaches Zuko how to be more level headed and helps him become stronger. Its not that she's become the enemy or anything, her exact reason for helping Zuko is explained in the story. This is very good. So if you like Toph and Zuko, read this. Then there's mine (not trying to brag) that features a female in place of Aang called Vayu (the Hindu god of wind). Its called "Neo Avatar: Book One: Water". Very descriptive and lengthy. Please read and review. I do not like flames. |

I reccomend staying away from fanfiction. If you're looking for something around the same age category, read The Bunnicula series, starting with "The Celery Stalks At Midnight". "By The Great Horn Spoon" is a funny story, as is "Matilda" and "The Witches" or anything by Roald Dahl. I'd also list Harry Potter, but I'm sure you've read it. If you're looking for something older, Chricton is still my favorite writer, but everyone I know keeps talking up the Wheel of Time series. Only you can stop fanfiction. |

DON"T READ THE FANFICS!
Well, actually, go ahead if you want to, but be warned: They may make you in to an Avatard Zutara fan.
You have been warned.
