Any DBZ references anyone see in Avatar?

    I'll name a couple:

The Dancing Dragon final steps look like the final steps of the Fusion Technique on DBZ

Aang unleashing his dormant powers during the climax of the fight and sparing Ozai's life is just like Goku turning Super Saiyan and sparing Freiza's life after defeating him

Zuko's role from villain to ally like Vegeta (another prince) who is first a villian, then ally, then villian again, then ally. Sounds alot like Zuko during Season 1, the end of Season 2, and Season 3

And Zuko's charged fireblast in 'Crossroads'' looked alot like Goku's Kamehameha

    Any more anyone's noticed?

C'mon, there are plenty of comparisons you could make to different series. You could say it draws tons of comparisons to Harry Potter if you wanted to...

This is true, I don't think any shows now days are totally original. They all take some elements from other shows.

    Oh God.

Every post in this topic that marks a resemblence between them causes me to dislike Avatar a little bit more.

Lol looking at that again that does look uncannily similar. Now I wonder whether Aang would be goten or trunks.. or how their fused form would look like .

We have to understand there are millions of shows around the world, so it's very hard to make a show with a completely original concept. Remember Captain Planet? It involves the combination of all elements (plus that useless Heart Ring) to summon the greatest Green Peace Member of all time, Captain Planet. Kinda like AtlA eh? Also some plot of AtlA is borrowed from Star Wars & Harry Potter, not to mention the fighting styles are borrowed from Asian Martial Arts (which has been borrowed by hundreds of anime shows). So AtlA is not entirely original, but what made this one of the greatest animated shows of all time is how the entire series was well executed by Bryke. The show is well balanced; it has great animation and a rich plot (a combination that is currently lacking in animes today, especially the plot). So in closing, Avatar is a great show, and this coming from someone who is a frequent anime viewer and thought this show was a terrible idea. And was I very wrong!
