Surly you all have seen this connection which i saw from the begining. The nations represent WW2 very closely. Most obvioulsy The earth kingdom is China and the Fire nation is Japan. no brainer. The northern water tribe is russia (not ethnicaly but in relation to location Russia is powerful NWT is powerful. The southern water is the koreans( korea is weak SWT is weak)??that japan invaded(i belive this was the first place attacked in both but even is order is off same thing). Now this is a stretch but the white cacaution aang whith no home land in the area( dont count abandonded temples) is america fighting back for the other nations after being pulled into the war by a dirty blow.( pearl harbor, attack on temples) This could be a coincedance but i belive that it was looslye based on WW2

It is sort of like it. But really you could say any war that had four nations in it, is like the war in Avatar.

Well it sort of is based on the Sino-Japanese War's. But pre those wars Japan seemed more interested in fighting their own people and picking on Korea in the South as China picked on Korea from the North.

I'm just saying that there the creators did not mean for this show to be about WW2.?? Unless they pull a FMA and in the season 3 finale Aang crosses over into our world during WW2 and find out the two wars are connected.

It was World War I the second to last episode takes place in. Then the last one ends in Munich in 1921/ on a train going to Transylvania (modern-day Romania).

I'd say the Fire Nation more resembles Germany. No I don't think all the residents of the FN are Nazis...but really Germany was a powerhouse in WW2. They probably would have won had we (US) not got involved.

So Aang will be the US and save the day essentially. But if this is an eastern-influenced show, shouldn't the baddies (let's go with communism as an example, as it has prevailed in most of Asia) win? Hmmm...something to mull over...

Prepared to get flamed by the Brits, and Canadians, and others.
Russia was winning the war on the Eastern Front by the time of D-Day, matter of fact they where fighting the bulk of Germany's armed forces. But if the US/Briton/Commonwealth/I don't want to list everyone didn't open up a second front in Europe we could be looking at a much different map of Europe/world now. It would have ended with Russia taking all of Germany and probably up to the boarder of Spain.

Anyway this topic reminds me of a post I made to a topic like this before.

    Ozai-Hitler
    Fire Nation-Nazi Germany
Air Nomads-Jews and what Hitler/Nazi Party deemed "inferior"
Water Tribes-Briton "The Siege of the North is somewhat like the Battle of Briton."
    Earth Kingdom-Europe as a whole.
    Earth King/Bumi-Charles De Gualle
    Chief Arnook-Winston Churchill
GAang-A alliance of the nations fighting back as freedom fighters or troops during the Normandy Breakout. I guess that would make Toph Free French Maybe Polish...Katara/Sokka English...Aang Jewish any nation...Appa is a C-47 Skytrain... Momo is I don't know...Nose art?

I can't think of anyone to be FDR/Stalin but I will later I guess.

Interesting topic. I agree with the characters you put (Ozai - Hitler etc.) Lol, yes, Momo is nose art

Thanks for the complement. Anyway I am just use to whenever someone on a forum says America did a lot during WW2 people coming out of the woodwork flaming the poster who said that and saying the person is a ignorant American, and America wasn't needed/not needed as much. These kind of topics usually turn into huge flame wars all over the internet.

Fire Nation to me is Russia, let me explain. First, the red flag reminds me of Russia. Second, they are very advanced, but at the same time primitive.

Finally, look at Ba Sing Se. I know it is Earth Kingdom but just bear with me, I will explain later. Ba Sing Se has a wall with guards separating the city,?? just like the Berlin wall. Also the way someone's house is upgraded is by the the higher they are in the government, which is also similar to how the government ran things in Russia. Last, there's all that secret underground KGB stuff going?? on. Now you are probable saying why is he talking about Ba Sing Se? Remember that Azula said that the Dai Li are just like fire benders, and they ran the city. So?? I'm thinking?? if Ba Sing Se is like Russia then and Basing Sing Se is like the Fire Nation, then the Fire Nation is like Russia.?? That's just my opinion

So Ba Sing Se is East Berlin, and the walls keep people in the city? I am sure people can leave Ba Sing Se whenever they want to. But why would you being what happens in the countryside.
