I think what will happen is that at the end they'll be some sort of peace, and maybe they continue with like an Avatar Generation 2 with the kids of the Avatar gang, but of course I'm not the creators and this IS just a theory.....

Some time ago I posted a NY Times article from last summer that also reported 3 seasons. That's what they intended so we'll have to see how it plays out and whether they extend it. With Avatar's popularity, even if they don't make an "Air" book I'm sure they'll find some way to make more episodes.

I like the Avatar way more then any other show on Nick but I kind of wish that they will stop at sixty episodes. I think they had the basic storyline for sixty eps. from the beginning. If they go beyond that they will have to change the story to make more fit. If the story managed to keep the quality it has kept so far beyond sixty then, great, I'm all for it. Somehow though I think it would become a series of filler episodes like many other cartoons out there.

They??shouldn't have an air book because Aang has already??mastered air bending. He??learned water bending in the??water book, he is??learning earth bending in this book. He'll??learn fire bending in the fire book.??

i would guess that if additional seasons were made to the series (past Book 3: Fire) that they would start with a new avatar. what leads me to believe this is the title itself. Avatar: The Last Airbender.

the title, as many may have realized, limits the possibility of the existence of more air nomads (the LAST airbender), and clearly focuses on Aang's journey as Avatar.

But by having the word Avatar and then the colon indicating a specification of the Avatar, then it leaves the title open-ended to include any other description.

    Avatar: _________

ie Avatar: Reborn into the Next Cycle But Don't Worry the New Guy is Just as Cool as Aang and Yeah, Maybe We'll Throw a Bunch of Returning Characters to Make you All Happy. Oh You Wants Some Crazy Ships, Huh? Well, this Time Around, Everytime there is ANY Indication of a New Ship, that Absolutely Means its Meant to be. Oh yeah, and Sokka's in it, too. With his boomerang. And Maybe this Time, He'll have a Date. Or not Get Hurt. Whatever comes first.

Of course, a new avatar means Aang dies (gasp! yes i said it). And we know the next one will be born into the Water Tribe. maybe Avatar: The Wet T-Shirt. wait...this is nick...ummm...look, a blue giraffe!

"According to the creators, "Avatar" was designed to be a three-season story line, including a big finale. Talks are said to be underway, though, to continue the series beyond the initial plan."

they'd be kinda a dumb not to continue it, it's like what? the best shbow Nick ever had?

I think I would agree with you. It's Nick's top show (or one of???) and it would be sad to see it end in 60 episodes and not extend. What I would like to see if the fire lord gets fallen at the end of the third season and then a fourth season arises with a new and powerful villain that was a follow-up to Ozai. That's my theory.

If it can still have the wonderfully done episodes with meaning after 60 episodes, I'm all for another season or two. But sometimes, shows fizzle out and get boring, even shows as great as??this. If it goes out with a big bang at 60 episodes, that's fine with me. Just as long as it gives the feeling that it ended right.

Since the finale would presumably be epic (and hopefully satisfying), I'm not sure about extending beyond the third book. Of course if there is a solid story that doesn't just cater to Nick's programming needs and consumers demands then I would watch. But for now I've already reconciled myself to 60 episodes and am just enjoying the series as I do a good book. It's there for me to "re-read" and enjoy when I want.

Personally, I would enjoy some sort of wrap up of the characters, but then I like that kind of thing.

I was thinking though - Aang needs to defeat the firelord - OK I get that, but if he does won't the problem of the comet come back every 100 years? I wonder if that will be addressed?

I'm all for (4) Healing (5) Gravity and (6) Lightning.

I think Gravity would be a cool earth-bending special ability. Since they can tap into the power of the earth maybe they could enhance or nulify the law of gravity in some areas.
