What ever?? happened to all of the air nomad animals like the flying bisons and lemurs. Sure the fire nation commited a genoside against the air nomads and its people but i see no point in them killing off all of the air nomad animals.

The nomads were probably trying to escape on the flying bison, so they were probably killed to get to the air nomads. As for the lemurs they could have survived probably went somewhere else to live. Althought some must have stuck around, or else Aaang wouldn't have met Momo.

thats a good theory i havent heard before. i think that since the nomads were so in tune with nature and therefore the animals, without the nomads the animals either left or died. and without their native enviorment they may not have been able to survive. obviously some of the lemurs are left because a few of them had to be around to make momo, however i bet the sky bisons arent doing so great, damn shame

Oh yeah i forgot about them. Well the bisons and lemurs seem to have died out, didn't Aang tell momo that they may be the last of their kind or something.

well, it wouldn't make any sense that Momo was the last surviving lemur. he wasn't frozen in an iceberg and preserved for a hundred years, so he had to come from other lemurs. but we don't know what happened to them.....unless Momo's 100+ years old

Aang said "we're all that's left of this place" referring to air temple. That doesn't mean momo is the last lemur or even neccesarily that appa is the last bison, again not neccesarily that aang is the last airbender either, but of that particular temple that's all they could find.
And maybe momo is 100 years old because something happened to him just like it did to both aang and appa, but I personally doubt it.

So it seems that the flying bison is the only air nomad animal that has seemed to vanish of the face of the earth, in Appas lost days the circus dude introduces appa as a mystical beast that hasn't been seen for over a hundred years or something along those lines.

There is a whole chain of islands that the animals could be at. A whole chain for three groups of Air Nations. They could be on any one of those islands.
