Azula also has two years of fighting experience on Aang...and i think it could be very much said that Aang was holding back and tired...to tell the truth Azula has never taken Aang on when he was at 100%...he's tired or preoccupied with something else during both fights

this is a problem that i wonder about...if he can't go all out against Azula...how's he gonna do it against the Fire Lord? and when will Aang actually grasp that to end the war he can't just beat the Fire Lord up...he can't just??take down Ozai he has to be ready to take OUT Ozai...

Azula isn't that lazy she trains all the time but she can walk by herself?? instead of being carried.

as he is now I'm still pretty sure Azula is the superior fighter. yeah, Aang was tired...he also was capable of bending 3 different elements at once. And as someone else said, Azula isn't lazy, as shown in the Avatar State she relentlessly trains herself to perfect her skills.

However he is getting better, this was the first time anyone other than Iroh has landed a hit on her, and Iroh surprised her.?? If they fought again with Aang at 100% he would probably put up a good fight and land a few hits, but I'm fairly sure Azula would still win.?? One more fight after that though I can see Aang winning.

Yeah, right now, I'd take Azula at a 60-75% chance of winning any given battle with Aang. Of course, Aang hasn't learned firebending yet. When/If he learns to redirect lightning, Azula's done for.

This is also terrain dependent. Aang is better in open space, in tight spaces, Aang can't do his crazy dodging/airbend tricks, giving Azula a likely decisive edge.

I think the more interesting showdown would be Mai/Ty Lee vs. the rest of Team Avatar. So far, Katara, Sokka, and Toph have won their battles against Mai and Ty Lee, but I think it's closer than the record would indicate. I think in the next battle, Mai and Ty Lee should be favored. But maybe I'm being crazy.

Aang was raised as a monk which makes him a pacifist. When he fights, he does not fight to hurt or maim on purpose. It's only when he is in the Avatar state in which he becomes unable to control his killing instinct. The Fury of Aang, though not one of my favorite episodes showed Aang wanting AND hurting a living creature. The buzzard that grabbed Momo infuriated Aang so much that even as the buzzard was flying away and no longer a threat, Aang sent out an air blast to physically hurt him. I wouldn't call Aang a pansy, he's a monk that is also the Avatar. Great character dimension, really. BTW - Azula is kickass.
