Ok, I realize this is old. I mean, REALLY old. but i figured, what the heck. you know?

So I've heard people gripe about how in Book 1: Water, The Southern Air Temple, the statue next to Roku isnt Kyoshi.

    HOWEVER.

Go just a few seconds before, and what do we see?

    Not to mention,

Ok, so I realize this isnt exactly earth-shattering news. I just wanted a bit of closure.

I've heard of this debate as well. But I've always thought the statue shown in the first screenshot was from the row 'behind' Avatar Roku, which is why the statue is smaller.

I think Avatar Kyoshi is next to Roku but the unidentified Avatar is from the row behind the row with Roku, Kyoshi, Kuruk and Yangchen in it.

Yes, that's how it looks to me. The statue in the first picture looks smaller than Roku's, so I imagine that Avatar is behind him.

You know, Roku is japanese for Six, wich has nothing to do with anything.
But seriusly, it does mean that, but i haven't found one thing that could relate the number 6 with Roku.

I remember a long time ago on this forum (way long befor i was registered, like 2 years ago) a debate about this exact subject, and it was eventually concluded that it was a glitch. An error in other words. Back during the first season there were quite a number of errors in the animation, such as the episode when the gaang first goes to kioshi, there is a scene in which a man apears to be arguing with a wooden post in the background. ill have to look it up.

I'm pretty sure that was there as a joke.

Wierd...from what i've heard, the creators originally had a man as the previous Avatar. In the first episode, on one of those temple murals, there's a man in Kyoshi's place. Apparently, it wasn't until Kyoshi Island that they finalized that Avatar as Kyoshi.
