Actually, that's not as crazy as it sounds. If you watch The Beach again, you can see Azula do a firebending move that seems to be a much weaker variant of CM's attack. It hapens at the end of the ball game, when she kicks the ball. A trail of compressed air is behind the ball that is identical to CM's projectiles, and the same distinctive crackle is heard before the impact and explosion. Personally, I think this was just an introduction to combustion attacks, for the benefit of CM's first fight. But still, if Azula can do it, why not Zuko?

Actually, I was hoping it would be vice versa. Azula and Zuko fight and they're pretty evenly matched until Azula gets lucky and incapacitates Zuko so Katara has to step in and bloodbend the s*** out of her.XD

You think there is a sexist slant to a series that has Toph, Katara, the Kyoshi warriors, Azula, Suki, Mai, Ty Lee for feminine action roles while the males are accounted by Aang, Sokka, Zuko, Iroh, Bumi, and Ozai? I'm sure I missed some major characters or two, but I would actually say it's the reverse of a slant if there is any slant at all. Up to this point the most powerful benders and hand to hand fighters have all been girls. Iroh, Ozai, and Bumi were the only guys that could hold a candle to the girls until zuko and sokka finally got some skills later in the game.

Yes the humble loving fighter always beats the crazy power hungry person...in the movies.
