so..aang is supposedly the last airbender right?
    and when aang dies,
there will be a water bending avatar
    than an earthbending one,
    then a firebending one

    but what next?
whos gunna give birth to the next airbending avatar if there are no more air nomads left?

Maybe Aang's supposed child will be an Airbender and that child has kids that also airbend and you get the cycle.

Well, even earlier than that, who would teach the Waterbending, Earthbending, and Firebending Avatars how to Airbend?

if Aang does not have children (who are airbenders anyway) then the avatar cycle is doomed and it will be broken and lost forever....yeah. but i do think that Aang will have children and possibly replenish the Air Nomad race, even though they technically won't be full Air Nomad...

Yup, everyone is absolutely right, if Aang is indeed the last airbender (and won't have kids) then the cycle is already broken.

But I have a feeling that the writers are already aware of it, and will be explained later in season 3 (I hope)

were you not listening to raienbrasa's question. they asked who would teach the next avatars in the cycle, as in the earthbending, waterbending, and firebending ones, how to airbend

The cycle could in theory just skip air and move on to the next element. Since this has never actually came up all we can do is either guess that the cycle would end or just skip to the next.

If the cycle skips and goes to the next than that doesn't mean that no one will know how to airbend remember in the series opener Katara had been completely self taught and she was coming along sort of.

Not to mention since Aang mastered air bending when he was 12 it mustn't be the hardest of the elements to learn.

Yeah, I agree kinda. If people could "learn" elements at all in the first place, I can't see why they can't just learn it again. However, I don't think the avatar cycle would just skip over air and go directly to water because the entire bending thing depends on the balance of the 4 elements, no air = no other elements.

Well don't forget, Appa is also the last sky bison. With no sky bison to learn from, there will be no new airbenders. So it looks like the only hope left is for Aang to have children.

Aang is the last airbender, yes.?? But that doesn't necessaryily mean he is the last person who has those abilities.?? Here is what I mean.?? I hate to bring in the star wars comparison, but will, and I hope you forgive me for doing so.

It is like Luke being the last of the Jedi.?? However, there are those who can become jedi, they just have to be taught how to tap into their powers.?? Maybe it is the same for air benders.?? Maybe there are those out there who can do air bending, but just have not learned how to tap into thier inner strengths.?? Maybe Aang will be able to teach some of them before he dies, and thus help bring the air benders back.

Just my opinion.?? I don't know if this theory has been brought up before or not, if it has, please forgive me, I did not intend to plagerize (sp?)??anyone.??

Even though that won't be a problem for Aang for about 200 years hopefully he'll just skip Air when its time to get reborn

as for the Aang having a kid thing it could still be a non-factor. Because even if he did make one more Airbender the thin Airbending bloodline cool die out before its time for the Avatar to come back or there won't be any newborn Airbenders around that the exact time Aang needs them
