technically, water does not conduct electricity. water cannot because when the hydrogen and oxygen bond there are no free electrons to conduct the electricity. water only conducts electricity when it has an ion dissolved in it (e.g. salt). the ions normally can't conduct either, but when dissolved in a liquid like water they can move about freely and conduct electrical energy. so you fail.

Katara wins due to being extremely overpowered. She is probably the single strongest live bender at the moment besides Iroh.

Azula is still better looking though.

Angry Katara=PMS No other explanation. So if Azula fought Katara during.. "that time", then Azula's screwed.

(Many factors decide who wins a fight. 1st and foremost the writers. Disregarding that, there's the environment, skill and raw power, intelligence, and the strategy one comes up with to use all those abilities to one's advantage.)^10

Katara had ample water when they fought in the cave. Not to mention Azula no doubt underestimated her, which is often a warrior's fatal flaw in combat. Whereas in The Chase, Azula holds her own against not only Katara but 5 other main characters. Granted 4 out of those 6 were sleep deprived and exhausted.

In short, it depends on the circumstances. Just because you beat a guy one day, doesn't mean you'll beat him the next...unless you permanently disabled him in some way, in which case good show.

Well "tomtitan" might sound like a science teacher, but I actually am one and I need to say that you aren't totally correct. Water with a pH of 7 (pure water) level does not conduct electricity, but regular water does conduct electricity. So in short "tomtitan" concept is quite valid. Please be more careful about your facts, if anything on how you present them.

Oh I'm not an English teacher so my writing might not be the best.

For the first few moments...Katara would be winning..but later....Azula would take Katara to the trash...but then Katara decides to not give up...then starts kicking Azula's A$$. I think Katara and Azula are both pretty.

Yeah I know that, water won't conduct electricity unless it has something that does conduct it dissolved in it.

But with Katara, she's seems to let her emotions get the best of her. She's a crockpot of hormones waiting to blow up, and in the battlefield, that's not always good. With Azula, she's very calculating and precise, and all of her attacks seems planned out for a reason.

That being said, however, if Azula truly goes bat**it insane, then I don't know how calculating she's going to be.

Just send these two into a pin when they're like this, and it'll be like two angry monkeys fighting each other. I'd watch that.

Hmmmm, Azula would win if she had NO distractions like in The Crossroads of Destiny, as Aang was attcking too. Katara is the more beutiful but you must all admit that Azula is the best female villain you've ever seen. Seeing as how Azula can bend lightning, se would have to win. Sorry for all the people who think Katara would but it doesn't just come down to whether or not water can conduct electricity, we must also realize that Katara may be caught without water, as Azula needs nothing to start zapping away. I like Katara, really I do, but let's hope it NEVER comes down to the two of them together fighting one on one. Although, if Katara did some new move she could, maybe, stand a chance... I don't really know what I'm talking about anymore do I?

You really needed to prove a scientific fact so bad you needed to resurrect this thread? Although interesting nonetheless. And we need an official Battle Thread.

first of all, I'm going to discount the full moon since that puts waterbenders at their max power and gives Katara bloodbending which pretty much ends the fight. The battle in CoD occured at night, and Katara had a rivers worth of water to work with. The power boost and water supply, combined with Azula likely underestimating her, likely lead to Kataras early lead in their fight. However, it was just an early lead, no way to tell if Azula could have pulled something and end up winning the fight.

During the day though, when Azula has her power boost on, I can't see Katara's water defenses lasting long.

so basically i'd pick Azula to win a fight.
in looks though, I'd go with Katara, but she wouldn't win by that much

Well I Don't Think Anyone Can Say Right Off The Bat Cause It Depends on Environment, Time of Day, Time of Night, Stage of the Moon? Nearby Water Supply, Moods of the Characters, My Money Goes to Azula Though She Has Less Things Against Her Then Katara, Azula WINS!!

Do you guys think that lightning can be blocked by waterbending, such as some sort of water shield or ice shield? We know that it can deflect fire balls, we have seen that, but can it hold against lightning? I highly doubt ice can withstand the power of a full lightning blast, and I think the lightning would just pass right through a water shield and hit Katara.... unless Katara uses the water as a redirection, since the lightning is attracted to the water, then Katara can attract it to wherever she wants as well using water? Idk, but Azula is my fav, so GO AZULA!!

as others have stated....it depends upon the situation,

if there was a large water source = katara

if low water source = Azula.

    Full moon = katara

    Sun = Azula

This is probably totally biased, but I reckon Azula would win.
Katara always seems to let emotions run her judgement whenever she's totally PWNing at waterbending, whereas Azula is a cool thinker - this could turn to her advantage.
Also, we've never really seen Azula give it her all (except for maybe in The Chase, but they only defeated her then because it was six against one); she normally restricts her bending to prevent someone from doing something, or to keep someone occupied etc. - she's never really gone for the kill. So just image how much she PWNs normally - giving it her all, she would just be total awesomeness. Also, as a couple of you mentioned, Katara DID beat her in CoD - but Azula did kind of underestimate her then. Now that she knows what Katara is fully capable of, I'm sure she'd be much better prepared.

So, if they both giving it their all, I'd say Azula would win. But, as I said before, I'm biased - if I liked Katara more, I could probably think of a bunch of convincing reasons why she'd win XD
